Publisher's Summary

When sparks fly between a rugged Texas cowboy and a girl next door, a fake engagement starts to feel all too real in this heartwarming romance from a USA Today best-selling author.

Alana Carey can out-rope, out-ride, and challenge even the best Texas cowboy. Working on her father's ranch for most of her life has made her tough as nails, but she does have one soft spot - and his name is Paxton Callahan. And with Pax back in town, Alana's old feelings have returned with a vengeance. But she barely has time to process her attraction for the hunky cowboy before her father falls ill and presents her with an ultimatum. Alana's father wants her married and settled before he passes away, and she isn't about to break a dying man's heart.

Paxton Callahan has been in love with Alana since...forever, and he's finally ready to stop running from his feelings. It's been ten years since he's seen the sexy cowgirl, and now that he's living next door, the electricity between them is about to set the whole Texas panhandle on fire. When Alana presents him with a crazy proposal - to pretend to be her fiancé so her father can die in peace - Paxton can't refuse. But as the faux-wedding day draws near, and her father's health improves, Alana and Paxton must decide whether to commit to the charade or finally admit their love is the real deal.

Critic Reviews

"Over 300 pages of warmth, humor and sweet romance....Carolyn Brown always manages to write feel-good stories, and this is definitely a...special read." (Harlequin Junkie, Top Pick, on Cowboy Brave)

"Lighthearted banter, heart-tugging emotion, and a good-natured Sooner/Longhorn football rivalry make this a delightful romance and terrific launch for the new series." (Library Journal on Cowboy Bold)

"Charming moments sneak into character conversations by Carolyn Brown, which is typical of her work, and no different in the latest Longhorn Canyon novel. Friendship, family, love, and trust abound in Cowboy Honor." (Fresh Fiction on Cowboy Honor)

Name Change

The only thing that I didn't like was the last name of Cade and Justin was changed to Dawson instead of Maguire like it was in the first books

Not my favorite

I am a fan of most of Carolyn Brown’s books. This one was not one of my favorites.

The main characters, specially the female lead, spend most of the book denying their feelings, and asking themselves too many “what ifs” which make the whole thing frustrating.

Too much time spent on preparations for the main event, when they could have had a bit more romance added. And the narration didn’t help.

The Happily Ever After came fast, and it was too short compared to how long it took them to get there.

This story has many positive reviews so please don’t let my less than stellar review keep you from it.

A very good read.

This story takes you through the lives of characters I have grown to love in this series. I just love the happy ending to this series. Unless there may be one more coming, not sure at this time, but I could see jer having a story for Lucas as well.

This book is cocoa in front of a christmas fire!

You will enjoy this book alot more if you have listened to the other books in the Longhorn Ranch series. This book will update you on previous characters and have a crossover event where every character is involved!

I love Paxton and Alanna they didnt take issues so seriously and lightly discussed issues. Yet they supported each other through the twists and turns.

Great story about the love of a Daddy, mine died from cancer too and I smiled thinking of all we shared! I love how strong the older characters are in C. Brown Books, and I love the sense of community with the foreman, field hands and the church community!

You guys this book was very sweet!! I went back to read my favorite chapters. The most annoying thing is in this book the boys call their grandma Mam.. an Irish name for Grandma but in the previous book.. she was called Granny and it just didn’t flow very good!

Otherwise the book was great.. the couple starts falling in love and just cant see it!❤️
