Publisher's summary

Are you ready to impress your friends & family with amazing knowledge and exciting tales of the constellations?

Have you ever looked up at the night sky and imagined what might be out there? You’re not alone! People have been wondering that for thousands of years.

Technology like telescopes and space shuttles are quite new, so before we could really investigate space, people would make up stories about what they thought was up there.

Some people saw heroes and monsters made out of stars, and would tell stories about them.

This book is going to tell you all about the wonderful things floating around above your head and teach you how to find some of the planets and special stars from your bedroom window.

Did you know:

  • There are some stars you can see from Canada that will never be seen from Australia?
  • Jupiter, the largest planet, has 80 moons?
  • One day on Venus lasts 6,000 hours? (That means one day of school would last over eight months!)

You’ll discover:

  • Why the ancient Romans are responsible for our galaxy being named after a chocolate bar!
  • Why your parents might be receiving messages from space when traveling!
  • Why sticking a pencil through an orange can help you visualize how the earth spins.
  • How to become a solar system expert
  • The planet that’s not home to aliens—but robots!
  • Why the moon’s gravity could be a surfer’s best friend!
  • The best time to see incredible events in the sky!
  • How to see a meteor shower every minute.

And much more!

You will discover all the tips and tricks to finding the constellations, as well as some amazing facts that will make you sound like a professional astronomer.

Fun and easy to visualize!

Really fun for kids. The narrator and author do an incredible job of describing the subject, and all the constellations, just like you were looking at them in a picture book. Works surprisingly well for audio, and keeps the kids engaged and educated the whole time. Looking for more from this author.

Amazing!!!!!! So much fun.

My nephew recently has become obsessed with Constellations and all things related to the cosmos! I thought that this would be fun for us to listen to together and I’m very glad we did!

The narration if fun and engaging! The information is delivered in a fun way and you learn SO MUCH! It’s a plethora of information. I love how not only do you learn about the constellations and where to locate them, but also some stories behind them. My nephew went home and my sister has been telling me all the new interesting facts he has been telling the family! Highly recommended!!!

Highly recommended!

A well written and well-narrated book that I find very interesting and educational for children, but I must say that I learned a lot myself.
A book that stimulates curiosity and helps answer many questions that children often ask.
Highly recommended.

Up in the Sky!- A Field Trip

The narrator’s voice is engaging and captivating, drawing you close to listening from the first sound. Have many times during your life have you stopped to look up into the sky to imagine what or who might be out there? As a grandpa, I remember spending time with my dad while looking up at the stars as he showed me the Big Dipper. After planting that seed, I begged for months to own a telescope in the 5th grade to take a closer look at the craters on the moon.

I was not alone! People have wondered that for decades since we had a man on the moon. This book tells about an unstated
rite of passage along a magical journey to help explain the stars in the skies above. While listening, you will discover why some constellations have been named after a candy bar. Each chapter will guide the listener in identifying and naming each constellation by the corresponding season. Children will learn about the close relationships among star groups. This new knowledge will enable you to build your knowledge and become a solar system expert by the end of your listening time. This book and others can help plant the seeds of interest to develop the junior scientist living within your home.

Fun stories and info for kids & adults

I think this is a great listen for both kids and adults. I definitely learned a lot, particularly from the stories shared about the constellations. It's also very useful how the author suggests using your fists to estimate degrees for orientation. I think this is a beneficial way to teach children about 30 degrees vs 70 degrees, for example. Definitely a fun listen- really great for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.

Absolutely amazing!

I initially thought I'd give this a try to potentially add it to a selection of listens for brain breaks in my classroom. However, I truly ended up falling in love with this book! It is so beautifully narrated and engaging, not to mention the information contained within these pages is fascinating (I must admit I learned a lot myself!) and I cannot wait to introduce this lovely audiobook to my kiddos!

So much fun!

I'd never been interested in stars and constellations until I got this book for my kid. Listening together was so much fun! I now catch myself stargazing and smiling, thinking of faraway planets and the magic out there. Recommended for kids and adults too! We grow old because we stop playing, said George Bernard Shaw. And because we stop stargazing, I might add!
