Story
The belief that one can meet the challenge of life and succeed and act in a way that conveys that belief can be characterized as faith in oneself. Faith requires a realistic sense of skill and a sense of confidence in this knowledge. A realistic assessment of one's ability allows one to strike a healthy balance between too much and too little trust. Too much confidence is seen as cockiness and pride. Overestimating one's skills can lead to problems such as not having projects completed on time.

Story
In a world of constant change, leadership skills are among the most critical to the survival and development of organizations. However, the acquisition and development of effective leadership often become a sort of a "grail quest". The very definition of leadership is debatable. For some, it is the ability of an individual to lead or lead other individuals or organizations to achieve certain goals. For others, it is foremost the ability to influence. The nuances of the definitions of leadership are numerous and reflect, above all, their results rather than their very nature.

Basic & intuitive & deep - extremely valuable
Though this book does not pose this question directly, it is a question that I’ve had to reflect on while reading this book. And I haven’t really liked what I’ve been forced to admit - that many of the ways we communicate in our everyday life take from the well-being of others.

talk about staying the obvious!
this could have been written by a school kid, it just stated the obvious. i found it very frustrating and I feel it is aimed at people with extremely poor social skills. listened to about 1.5 chapters, skipped to chapter 14 and it was still like it was more appropriate for a primary school child to be listening to. Keep the Love going!
This book is excellent. Although I found the techniques challenging to implement. If one can commit to using these principles, they will go a long way to offering a better relationship with your partner. I cannot say enough good things about this book. Such simple techniques that have such a huge effect. He explains why conflict starts to begin with, and offers practical, real tools to diffuse it (or avoid it to begin with). If you or your spouse tend to play the blame game when you have conflict, then this book is an absolute must listen.

Profoundly Clear, Surprisingly Practical !!!!!!!
Whether for personal growth in communication, or public presentations, Tim's book is a masterpiece. Not only is Tim a clear communicator (in this book, stories actually go with the overall point being made, rather than offer distractions or breaks), but he clearly has a deeper understanding of human behavior and learning. The Compelling Communicator is an essential listen for anyone who wants to be intentional about his or her communication. I cannot recommend it highly enough. !!!!!!!!!!!

Story
What happens when you learn to communicate better with everyone? No doubt you’ve had to endure a painfully awkward conversation, more than once in your life. Maybe it was a stranger, a colleague, or a date. Maybe it was a group discussion. You found yourself breaking a sweat, not knowing what to say. The more time passed, the more tense you became. You thought about all the communication books you’ve read in your life and wished you had them with you…to knock yourself unconscious as a way out of the conversation. The best thing about the whole situation was the moment it ended.
