Common Sense In Book Form

Struggled to finish it because of the subject matter redundancy throughout the book. Maybe be good for younger people emerging into the very sensitive social society.

This book was amazing and changed my life.

Effective communication is an essential tool to possess in today's world. Being able to articulate your views and express yourself is critical in business and personal relationships. I love this book. I always thought of myself as a great communicator and this showed me that I can still do better. I didnt know knowledge like this existed. Ian gives you great exercises and insight on how verbal communication works

Respectfully Written !!!

She has a very clear depiction of several scenarios. I found many of them to be helpful and it helped me to realize some things I can change about myself. Good book. Very respectfully written. Broke down situations and repeated each scenario so you really wrap your mind around each phase of the discussion. This is a good book that actually trains you to use intelligent responses. I recommend it for high school, young adult and our wonderful senior citizens

Great techniques for better communicating!

I found it to be an insightful and rewarding tome of information, well worth the read. The author highlights multiple effective techniques by which a person can prove himself (or herself) more effective in confidence and communication; even for those who are already solid in this area, the tips prove helpful. listen this book really did open my eyes to exactly how communication works and how I can do it better, myself. All of the information is broken down into easy to understand chunks which help a lot when trying to really understand the info.

A worthwhile listen.

I really enjoyed this book. I wanted to read it to help myself in communicating with others, as I am not always the best at communicating and this is great. This book isn't some traditional style of "self help". This is a remarkably useful book. While we are taught how to listen and to speak, almost no one learns how to listen properly. I can tell if you are a poor writer or poor speaker but neither you or I can tell if you are a great listener. So simple in its message but so powerful if you can live it.
This is a book that works as a love instruction manual.

A must listen in any relationship.

This book is excellent. Although I found the techniques challenging to implement. If one can commit to using these principles, they will go a long way to offering a better relationship with your partner. I cannot say enough good things about this book. Such simple techniques that have such a huge effect. He explains why conflict starts to begin with, and offers practical, real tools to diffuse it (or avoid it to begin with).

Amazing book!!!

One of the better books on improving work skills that I've read in a long time! Great advice paired with real life illustrations, and some rules/tools. It is easy to assume we know how to effectively communicate with others but like everything else it is a skill.

talk about staying the obvious!

this could have been written by a school kid, it just stated the obvious. i found it very frustrating and I feel it is aimed at people with extremely poor social skills. listened to about 1.5 chapters, skipped to chapter 14 and it was still like it was more appropriate for a primary school child to be listening to. I knew all of what I was hearing. couldn't recommend

Effective Communication Skills Guide

I listen this book to be more intentional in being a better communicator, thinking my listening was a strength. I listen this book in one sitting. It's very well organized and is perfect for skimming, deep study, or easy review. Practical and straightforward, it is an instant desk-side companion for growing into the spouse, parent, co-worker, and friend you want to be and others need you to be. A gem of a little self-improvement book. I love it when each sentence is one I can take in - instead of raking my brain trying to figure out what the author means.

A book that ANYONE can benefit from!

Communication Skills Training is a comprehensive guide on communicating more effectively. There are a lot of great takeaways in this book. I liked the chapter about how we use filters, and how they affect our interpretation of the information we process and how we communicate with others. This book has given me the motivation to improve my communication skills and a great starting point for me, since I've never taken a public speaking class or communication class. Subjects I always avoided in school! It's broken down into list of specific skills one should work on, making it easy to refer back too.

Relatable & Life-changing !!!!!

Just finished the book. I am going to use it as a blueprint of the changes I want to make. I moved 50 miles from my work, my work days became 12 hour days. I was spent by the time I got home. Looking at my picture it is not what I want to be. It is time to start the process of getting to what I want to be. Great book. Plan to read it often to keep the ideas fresh Debra Hedges took the time to understand what she was writing about. She has researched and studied for years. Not only had she done that but she has applied her concepts to her own life to show the reader that there is more to it than just fanciful thinking.

Learning how to connect !!!!!!!!!!

I've read several of Debra Hedges 's books on leadership and some of them have been easier to read than others for me. This is a well written book with some great practical information that anyone can learn from. Who doesn't need to learn to communicate better? This book gives some great ways to connect with an audience as a speaker, with an individual or with small groups. How can you not like this book, John Maxwell is the man. Reading this book helps me to not just speak at people but to engage and connect with them, that's when true transformation takes place.

Easy lisen & insightful ,,,,,,,

This is a soothing and yet powerful read. Debra Hedges is truly a skilled teacher because he delivers simple words that sink into you slowly. His words subtly change your perspective. So easy to read that I didn't realize the impact this book had until I felt myself using my new tools of understanding to make changes in my communication style. This is an excellent book. I would rate behind only Debra Hedges 's Living Buddha, Living Christ. As a high school debater, I thought communication was all about winning the argument.

Another life-changing book in the same category as "Mistakes were made" or "Drive". The category would be named "Why has no one told me earlier". So listen at your own risk. Has the potential to change your life. The best book I have listen without a doubt. I have used all of the concepts covered in the boom in my family violence intervention program and anger management classes. The people in class have loved the days we go over these ideas. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to find a healthier way to communicate and connect with other.

Seriously Life Changing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would highly recommend this for leaders and managers at all levels - provides foundational information for the more junior leader and great refresher material for the more senior. Who does not want to communicate in a more appropriate manner? That is what this book does. Its articles present the reader with practical advice on how to persuade, speak up and reject silence in business settings. This book was fantastic. It highlighted several great articles from the authors of great books and the educators of great universities.

Profoundly Clear, Surprisingly Practical !!!!!!!

Whether for personal growth in communication, or public presentations, Tim's book is a masterpiece. Not only is Tim a clear communicator (in this book, stories actually go with the overall point being made, rather than offer distractions or breaks), but he clearly has a deeper understanding of human behavior and learning. The Compelling Communicator is an essential listen for anyone who wants to be intentional about his or her communication. I cannot recommend it highly enough. !!!!!!!!!!!
