Publisher's summary

"On every level, Cold Storage is pure, unadulterated entertainment." (Douglas Preston, The New York Times)

For listeners of Andy Weir and Noah Hawley comes an astonishing debut by the screenwriter of Jurassic Park: a wild and terrifying adventure about three strangers who must work together to contain a highly contagious, deadly organism

When Pentagon bioterror operative Roberto Diaz was sent to investigate a suspected biochemical attack, he found something far worse: a highly mutative organism capable of extinction-level destruction. He contained it and buried it in cold storage deep beneath a little-used military repository.

Now, after decades of festering in a forgotten sub-basement, the specimen has found its way out and is on a lethal feeding frenzy. Only Diaz knows how to stop it.

He races across the country to help two unwitting security guards - one an ex-con, the other a single mother. Over one harrowing night, the unlikely trio must figure out how to quarantine this horror again. All they have is luck, fearlessness, and a mordant sense of humor.

Will that be enough to save all of humanity?

Not bad

It’s a good story, although I don’t like books that begin in one decade and continue in another. It is tedious at times as it gives you the background on characters and why they who are they are. While I wouldn’t consider this a laugh out loud humorous book, it is light. The premise is fungus that has a mind of it’s own and the guy who ensures it doesn’t get anywhere. There are also an interesting couple that helps contain the stuff. If you get through the tedious parts, it’s a good read. I kinda hope there is another book with these characters.

Fun but not great

It was good enough to keep me listening to the end, otherwise it was fairly bland.

Really entertaining book

This was an addicting book. I kept listening to it late into the night to find out what happens next. There were many implausible situations but that's what fiction is...not true stuff.

The tension is frustrating but oh so good

Im not an easy scare, but by the calm pace of the action and terror really got to me! The mixture of biological insanity and science fiction had my skin crawling . Probably one of the best character developments ive read this year, as far as new characters. to a reader. You can sympathize with each antagonist from their start.Terrific ending, because I was ready to either yell at my stereo or cheer a little.Rupert Friend is an incredibly relatable narrator with clever nuances in his storytelling, which David Koepp masterfully provides through a mix of informational data and suspense!!!

Great story

Enjoyed this book very much. It was exciting and kept me on the edge. One thing, the Narrator has a good voice. I enjoyed it except when he did the vices for the motorcycle Gang. He sounded like Hank, from King of the Hill. He tried several other voices like it for all the characters and they were pretty bad. He should have just read it in his voce. Same goes for the character Teacake. He sounded like a Duffus. Took away from a pretty good story.

A fun, easy listen.

Just the kind of light but engaging story and great (matching) narration that makes for a great listen while driving, doing a DIY project, etc.

If you like Dean Koontz you should enjoy this.

Peices of the Skylab land in a small town the outlands of downunder below the orbit of the now defunct satellite. Several years later something crawled out and ate the town. Of course, the US sends a team of agents to investigate and the survivors send a sample to be investigated in the states.

No government agency wants to deal with it, so it is warehoused underground in the midwest. 20 plus years later the underground site has been declared surplus and sold to a commercial storage company. The level with the town killing alien fungus has been sealed off. What could go wrong....
