Publisher's Summary

A USA Today best-selling novel.

Years ago, we were in love. She was an up-and-coming superstar and I was the security professional hired to keep her safe. We fell hard and fast, no matter how much we tried to resist one another. But not everyone around us was happy about our relationship, and a string of lies and deceit destroyed what we once had. I moved on from her and didn't look back.

Now, I've taken the helm of a nationally renowned protective services company, and I'm looking to rebrand my career. The newly crowned Jameson force security is moving from the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas to the mountainous steel town of Pittsburgh, and the last thing I have time for is to deal with my past.

More than a decade has passed since our split, but even a bruised and battered heart remembers its first love. So when Joslyn Meyers comes to me for help, I reluctantly agree to keep her safe from a terrifying stalker who keeps threatening her life.

As the danger continues to intensify, it becomes clear that I'll stop at nothing to protect the woman who turned her back on me all those years ago. Because one thing is certain - no matter how hard I try to convince myself otherwise, Joslyn still has my heart.

Ahhh <sigh>

Finally Kynan’s story and I wasn’t disappointed. I like how they quickly resolved their issue from the past and we didn’t get any of the angst typical in romances. Good narration for a good story, ready for book 2.

JUST MEH! DIDN'T LIKE THIS COUPLE.

This always frustrate the heck out of me...

If you are supposed to be badass enough to belong to the equivalent of military special forces, you are supposed to be "good" at it. Then why oh why do characters that are supposed to have special skills are written as inept fools?

The main characters handling of bad situations is just not acceptable. The hero acts like a peacock showing off, while failing at what he is "peacocking" about. If you are supposed to be "the best" a character should be written as "the best!" And our heroine, who is supposed to have hired "the best" to do a job, doesn't give him the chance to do the job.

These two people were written as dimwitted fools.

Shane East is always a pleasure to listen to.

This story was not for me.

Great new series

Sawyer Bennett has started a new series with this book. I really enjoyed all the romance of two people coming back together. Shane East and his accent only add to the story and Imogen Church was a good narrator, too. I can't wait to listen to the next book.

Good story, great male voice, terrible female voice

This is a tough one for me...I LOVE Sawyer Bennett. She is a one-click author for me. I have read all of her books at least once. Love her. However, this story was not my favorite. It was very good, very well done and a great start to the series. I waited awhile after I finished to review this so I could think about my reasons for the less than stellar review. So here goes...
The story was good. I got distracted with other things frequently though...hence my reflection before this review. I think the reason I was unable to focus 100% was the excruciatingly overacted narration by Imogen Church...NOT the story. Had the female narrator been different, this would’ve been an easy 5 star for me.
Shane East...what can I say? He’s always such a pleasure to listen to. His tone, inflection, pacing and overall delivery is impeccable. And that accent. Swoon...
Imogen had a few scenes where she wasn’t so over-the-top and it was such a relief. Those scenes were good. But the other 95% of her scenes were brutally overdone...to the point of being squeaky and cartoonish. She’s a talented actress. She just overdid it in this book.
It’s worth a listen. I’m in the middle of the next book in this series and am enjoying it immensely.

Thrilling, Provocative, and Sexy Story!

What a thrilling start to Bennett's new Jameson Force Security series! I have been so excited to find out what happened to Kynan and Joslyn after watching them fall in love in Wicked Force in Bennett's Wicked Horse Vegas series. Kynan is the new owner of Jameson Force Security and has done well. He is getting bored with protecting entitled entertainers and is looking to form an elite force to take on more exciting and covert jobs. When Joslyn, the only woman he has ever loved, comes to him for help after an attempt on her life by a crazed stalker, he wants to turn her away, but his heart won't let him. They separated years ago, suddenly, breaking both their hearts. Their misunderstanding causes tension between them, but their reemerging chemistry, and love, cannot be denied. But as they try to find her stalker, who is always a step ahead of them, Kynan feels extreme pressure over protecting the love of his life. It is a race against time to apprehend him before the stalker destroys them both. I loved how Bennett brought them back together, not dragging out the miscommunication. These are strong, smart characters who are unapologetic and fight for what they want. I enjoyed watching them reconnect, learning who they are today, as Kynan was investigating and building his new team.
I absolutely loved the incredible narration by both Shane East, and Imogen Church! I have been a fan of Shane East before but this is my favorite performance yet. His swoony british accent is a given, but his american accent was flawless and the intense emotion he brought to these characters, especially Kynan, was spectacular. This is my first listen to Imogen Church and I was totally captivated by her masterful vocal performance. Her inflections, timing and accents were spot on and I loved her ability to draw me in throughout all the suspense, heartbreak, tenderness and passion. Both East and Church complimented each other perfectly as they brought this thrilling, provocative, and sexy story, with all it's twists and turns to life.
I am so intrigued by Kynan's new team and I can't wait for more from Bennett’s new Jameson Force Security series!

Great Start

Kynan was alpha. He owned a business that commanded strength and level heads but when it came to Joslyn he couldn't get past the fact why after so many years she is now contacting him.

Getting into the thick of things is what Kynan does. Joslyn has everything. She's a singer, actress and can do it all. The fans love her but one has taken things to a level that she will only feel protected by Kaynan. Will he prevail? Can he keeps her grounded and safe? Will his plans make things worse for her?

Shane East's narration of this character was perfect! His accent pulled me in even more than expected which truly gave this story life. I couldn't into Imogen Church's narration for Joslyn. I think trying to keep the English accent was somewhat difficult so I couldn't really feel Joslyn.

Second chance love with a twist

I really enjoy Sawyer Bennett’s books! It is fun to catch up with characters from previous stories. Kynan and Joslyn have a past that both feel the other is to blame for their break up. This story has many facets that all join together for an intense loving scary heart pounding book.

Kynan, Kynan, Kynan!

Kynan McGrath is all things alpha, sexy, smart, and a security genius. Taking over Jameson Force Security has kept him busy and he’s managed to steer clear of his past. A past that haunts him with what ifs and questions of simply what happened. He’s somewhat content with his life right now. He has the perfect balance between his job and his play time. Playing at the Wicked Horse has satisfied his need for mindless, uncommitted escapades that have spilled over into his life and he seems to love the no strings attached lifestyle… that is until she comes back.
Joslyn Meyers needs help and she is desperate. She knows without a doubt that Kynan is the only one that can provide the protection that she needs. She has a stalker and she can’t shake him. This job requires a special type of security, one she can trust. Although the past is bound to resurface, she would rather deal with it, than succumb to the evil that is haunting her.
The Good: I’m always looking forward to the next read from Sawyer and as usual she did not disappoint with Kynan’s story. It was all around good.
The Bad: Kynan was such a jerk in the beginning. I was so ready to punch him!
The Ugly: Being scared for your life is never a good thing. For someone to think they have a right to ruin your life for their pleasure is sick!
I absolutely loved this story! Kynan was such a dirty talking beast that I had to watch my facial expressions while listening. This read is hot, suspenseful, and drama at its best! Kynan and Joslyn are made for each other. They are magic and untapped energy ready to explode. I could feel his struggle with falling again, but he didn’t have to treat her so bad in the beginning. That was cringe worthy, but necessary to bring life to his emotions. I loved when Joslyn fought back and put him in his place. He wanted so bad to punish her with his lust. He wanted to consume her and his ache for her was tangible. I am just awestruck that Sawyer continues to bring tales that are so complete and don’t leave you questioning anything. I’ve never listened to any of her books and felt empty. I’ve been left wanting, but never unsatisfied. Shane and Imogen were believable as these characters and they did not skimp on the emotional aspect, the longing, and the desperation of Kynan and Joslyn. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series. I know without a doubt that it will be a solid 5 Star Read as this one is.

Great start to another awesome series

This was an awesome book and I really enjoyed it! I’ve been looking forward to Kynan’s story since he was introduced in the Wicked Horse Vegas series. I was kind of disappointed in the fact that he seemed like a totally different person in this book compared to how he was portrayed in the other series. That fact aside, this book ticked all the boxes for me to love the book!

Great first book in what I hope will be a great series. This book was full of suspense and although the ending was a bit predictable with the expected fight I enjoyed it all.

❤️ Kynan

Kynan would have to be my favourite of all Sawyer Bennett’s alphas. Suave and sexy, hot and romantic. Mix Kynan with Shane East and you are left with absolute perfection. 5 big fat ⭐️
