Publisher's summary

He's such a bad idea. This roommate thing is not going to work.

Kendra is a messy-haired, pajama-pants-wearing little ball of sass. The first thing she does is try to make friends with my random from the night before - giving her all sorts of bad ideas.

I don’t date. I don’t use words like girlfriend, or I’ll text you later. F--k that. Relationships aren’t for me. I’ll give a woman a night she won’t forget, but once it’s over, I’m out.

I keep people at a distance, and I have my reasons. But Kendra starts getting under my skin. And when my life crashes and burns - literally - Kendra is the only person on whom I can count.

I’m not built for relationships, and Kendra is not a one-night stand. But living with this girl sleeping one room away might just be the thing that kills me.

Cocky Roommate is a stand-alone hate-to-lovers roommate romance with a definite HEA. It contains mature language and content and is intended for a mature audience. Fair warning, Weston is a straight up asshole. Or is he?

Not Afraid to Fall in Love

I was so excited to start Kendra's story after meeting her in Book Boyfriend! Initially, I was a little turned off by the hero, Weston, because when we first meet him, he is a grade A, world class a-hole! He says some incredibly rude and offensive things to Kendra and it was hard not to feel the hurt and anger right along with her at his callous remarks. I love a good anti-hero though, and Claire Kingsley did a fantastic job of showing that there was much more to Weston than what we are led to believe. Don't get me wrong, he really is a jerk at times, but I liked that he didn't come to some miraculous epiphany and completely change. He's learning and changing, but there are going to be growing pains and missteps. Ultimately, I loved that Kendra could see through the masks and with a little forced confinement (hello, roommate!), Weston saw her too. The ending and epilogue was wonderful and though things moved quickly, it worked well given Weston and Kendra's personalities.

Teddy Hamilton was perfect as always and I loved his narration as Weston! He is always the right amount of sexy and sweet, without being over the top. Lucy Rivers is a new to me narrator and she was a little more serious sounding than I imagined bubbly Kendra to be, but I still really enjoyed her performance. Some of the chapters were more emotional and I thought she really shined during those moments. I do wish that Claire Kingsley's afterword in the ebook would have been included with the audio. It explains a lot of the author's thought process behind Weston's character and gives a lot of insight into his actions and motivations. I definitely recommend checking it out after finishing the audio if you get a chance.

Catching up with Mia, Alex, and Caleb was great and I found Mia's analysis about the 3 types of a-holes not only accurate but also very entertaining! ;) I'm really looking forward to Caleb's book next! As much as I enjoy an anti-hero, nothing beats an all around good guy with a heart of gold!

Overall 4.5 stars
Narration 4.5 stars
Story 4.5 stars

*NOTE: There is a chapter mix-up about halfway through (chapter 21). Audible and the author are aware and are currently working to fix this! :)
*NOTE 2: The chapter issue has been resolved!

Great story. Audiobook chapter issue.

I enjoyed this story a lot. Great second book to the series. I love how there is more nods to romance readers. I look forward to book 3. I was expecting more drama than there was, but am glad there was less. I am not a big fan of much drama anymore. This story flowed very well.

The narrators did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life! Will gladly listen to them separately and together.

The audiobook is missing chapter 21 and chapter 23 is repeated. chapter 21 gives you more insight into Ian and Weston's partnership as well as Ian's character.
Still happy this story has an audiobook, though. I laughed in so many places.

Female narrator

The female narrator should slow down her speech a bit. It's like she was rushing through the words.

Female Narrator Makes this a Difficult Listen

I enjoyed getting to continue following the characters in this series, and Claire Kingsley is a great storyteller. However, the female narrator sounds almost exactly like the voice on the Alexa device so when she reads for Kendra and Weston, they come across in a lackluster, robotic way. It made it difficult to feel the attraction between the pair.

3.5 stars!

I really liked this one. It wasn't as funny as Book Boyfriend, more of a serious story, but still good. It was nice to see the rest of the family that we met in the previous book, and I love that it's set in the Pacific Northwest where I live.

Loved it! 5 BRIGHT STARS!

This is the first time that by the end of the story I am rooting for the redemption of a$$hole male lead.

This story was very enjoyable. Loved the heroine, and how her selfless and sunny disposition ends up captivating the beast that was the hero.

I liked very much that the heroine was able to give so much of herself without being a doormat, while the hero sulked, brooded, and barked.

The narration was enjoyable.

Credit worthy story.

Cute

There was a lot of “he says/ I say” and that got irritating but the story was cute. Weston was bit too diskish for my liking, dude needs therapy. 1st book was better, heres hoping for the 3rd.

Good story narrators 50/50

this is the 2nd book in the series, and I did enjoy it, but not as much as the first one - Book Boyfriend. Teddy Hamilton is amazing as always and has a voice I could listen to forever, but Lucy Rivers was not as enjoyable, she was ok, but has a weird reading voice that is oddly monotonous without being totally monotonous, I got used to it after a while but it is occasionally jarring at some points of the story. if I could I would give Teddy Hamilton 5 stars for narration, but Lucy Rivers maybe 2? I may go back to reading vs listening to this one

not as good as book 1

I didn't like this as much as the first book in the series. I also did not really like the female narrator. The male narrator was great for the character. A great balance of steamy and sweet.
