School discipline is broken. Too often, the kids who need our help the most are viewed as disrespectful, out of control, and beyond help, and are often the recipients of our most ineffective, most punitive interventions. These students - and their parents, teachers, and administrators - are frustrated and desperate for answers. Dr. Ross W. Greene, author of the acclaimed book The Explosive Child, offers educators and parents a different framework for understanding challenging behavior.

Publisher's summary
Say goodbye to worrying about low engagement and ineffective learning: This guide has everything you need to level up your classroom management.
Do you ever feel like you’re not quite the teacher you dreamed you could be? Maybe you’ve experienced minimal engagement from your students during class, or you’ve been overwhelmed by low assessment scores. Perhaps you’ve experienced the awful sinking feeling of being unable to resolve a class conflict.
Being a teacher, especially for the first time, can be a challenge. There’s nothing easy about managing a group of young children who are all learning how to navigate their emotions and learn new things each day. Some educators, despite years of having worked in schools, still find difficulty in successfully managing their classes.
In fact, the University of Phoenix has found that a total of 77 percent of teachers have reported feeling stressed, and 75 percent have reported feeling anxious. There are some that might just resort to thinking that “kids will always be kids”, and opt to leave their classroom as it is for the sake of a quiet life.
But what if you learned that it’s possible to manage your classroom, ensure consistent learning, and create a positive environment?
In Classroom Management for Elementary Teachers, here’s a fraction of what you will discover:
- The preparations you can make from Day 1 - to the practices you can implement until the end of the year - to make learning fun
- What personality traits can help a teacher create a positive classroom environment (and how you can find yours)
- How you can link learning material to real life lessons, and give students the motivation to keep learning
- Why communication matters inside a classroom setting (and how you can inspire your students to be more responsible about it)
- How you can introduce and enforce class policies - while getting your students to respect, understand, and participate in them
- A fool-proof guide to recognizing and managing difficult behavior
- What empathy and conflict resolution skills can do to improve relationships between you and your students - and how to use them
- And much more
Avoid low engagement, ineffective learning, and low-quality relationships inside your classroom by preparing for the differing needs of your students.
Worried about experimenting with something as sensitive as classroom management?
Don’t fret - this guide has everything you need to safely and successfully experiment with the different techniques that can create a positive classroom environment for you and your students.
If you want to improve your students’ learning experience, then buy this audiobook right now.

A great resource for all teachers
This audiobook will make a great resource for both new and experienced teachers. It explores why it is important to create the right atmosphere for the students to learn and for the teacher to teach, learning to communicate well with students, using active communication skills, and being an approachable teacher that a student feels comfortable approaching with a problem. It also covers the proper ways to carry out corrective discipline for the benefit of the students. An easy listen. Highly recommended!

I loved this book. There were strategies that I hadn't thought of or hadn't planned to implement. I thought I had considered everything. I love how the author stresses we don't have to be strict and all so get what we expect. Ms. Fan does a great job in relating the book to every teacher no matter where they are in their journey.

Recommend for teachers!
I ordered this for my mom who has gone back into teaching after being retired for many years (she wanted to do something part time and missed the environment). Anyway she noticed kids act different than they used to and she was having some trouble with students and their manners, being respectable, and how to deal with them. She told me she really liked it and has begun adding some of the helpful information and tips to dealing with these kids in classrooms and has seen a difference.

Not Worth It
This book had high reviews so I decided to give it a try after the challenging year I had last year. I was immediately turned off by all the legal stuff at the beginning.
I was still hopeful though. I should have stuck was my initial impression and not listened. It wasn’t worth my time.
The book gave very basic things that literally ever teacher learns as their going through school to become a teacher: build relationships, have simple rules, have direct consequences, let students have input on their learning, be consistent, etc… These are things you’d find in any parenting book.
What you will not find in this book is examples of what some simple, yet direct rules look like in lower elementary vs upper elementary. There aren’t examples of consequences other than a calm down area.
I found this book to be completely a waste of my time.

Way Over Rated!
I always read the reviews on a book before I purchase. I was looking forward to reading this book based on the positive feedback. I often give very high ratings and have never given a below average rating before, so this is a first. I completely agree with the critic that felt this book read much like a textbook providing no real world examples, and in my opinion, poorly researched and very dry. I too, never made it past the first couple of chapters before knowing it was a waste of my time. I have been a teacher for 28 years. I have experienced most every type of student, read many books on classroom management, subject matter, delivery, and teaching to provide the best for our students and get the best performance out of your students. To put it simply, I feel that the people who rated this book so highly have had very little experience, and/or have not read very many books on this subject matter. It is way OVER RATED!

no value
I was excited to listen to this book until I actually did... it felt as though I was listening to a textbook because the author provided absolutely no real world examples of HOW to achieve something in the classroom. I finally gave up on chapter 2 and returned the book when the author talked about discipline and how there is a difference between discipline and punishment; however, absolutely zero examples were provided to help clarify these differences. I would not recommend this book.
