Publisher's summary

A rugged Texas cowboy gets into the Christmas spirit to prove himself to the woman he loves in this heartwarming fifth novel of the USA Today best-selling series.

Maverick Callahan lives up to his reputation as a freewheeling cowboy. But a year ago he fell head-over-heels for an extraordinary woman he met while on vacation, a woman he was convinced he'd never see again. So when she appears on his doorstep like a Christmas miracle, Maverick is determined not to waste his lucky break.

Bridget O'Malley's world has flipped upside down. As the new guardian of her best friend's baby, she hasn't had a moment to think about the Texas rancher who broke her heart. He's just as sexy as ever, but she knows better than anyone that he's not the settling-down type. As the trees are trimmed and mistletoe hung, will some holiday magic help Bridget trust this carefree cowboy with her heart and her future?

I liked Maverick's story

I always look forward to Carolyn Brown stories and this story was another well written one that felt real but was also sweet. Bridgit wants to stand on her own and support herself and the baby. Maverick doesn't want to lose this unexpected second chance to get to know Bridget. He wants time with her, as much as he can get to persuade her to stay in Texas. Bridget plans on returning to Ireland as soon as she's no longer needed at the ranch. Maverick's grandmother keeps the two of them hopping with Sunday School, the Christmas Pageant, and visiting her while taking care of the ranch and the baby.
Beware, it is not unusual to hear cursing if you're actually out working a ranch/cattle. It's my life, so I'm speaking from experience.
Narration was well done. Thanks.

so repetitive!

I had to stop 30% through the book. The premise is cute, but the characters are so one dimensional. Each scene plays out exactly the same: share a meal, share memories of that one night together then repeat internal monologue on why it can never work. So disappointing !

Cute Story

I enjoyed the story but there just wasn’t a good conflict to give it some excitement nor did I feel the character arcs were entertaining. Some areas were a little too preachy for me.

boring

not quite believable. Grandma telling grown grandkids what to do and they do it--- teach Sunday school and do a play, etc.
