• S6 Ep70: Recess: Competing on American Idol; Making Relevant Music while Staying Authentic; Writing Process!
    Mar 29 2026

Forming in 2009 and continually emerging on the scene as a beloved, epic synth pop band, Recess joins episode 70 of Chats with Clark! Led by singer Vincent Fondale and accompanied by trusted musicians Alex Razzy and Anthony Fondale, the band focuses on making their music an experience. From the start of a song to the end of it, from beginning to end of a show, their goal is to engage with the audience in a way that is both cinematic and meaningful.

This style has proven to be a great success for Recess, who recently "made it to Hollywood" and competed on the legendary American Idol show. For Vincent and the band, learning from the experts, some of the absolute best in the business (Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood), was a sheer privilege.

Of course, as with any creative endeavor, Recess is familiar with stones being cast their way. As such, they address criticism with grace and use it to catapult themselves forward. Finding their identity and sticking to it, while aiming to be relevant with musical trends, is their viable tactic.

Tune in to episode 70 to hear behind-the-scenes looks at what American Idol is like, an acoustic rendition of hit song "The Sound of Giving Up," stories of battling forward in adversity, and an ongoing commitment to one another as a band and their fans, to whom Recess adores. With tangible talent, Recess will leave you impressed and hopping over to your music platform to enjoy their music... but after you're done with this episode!
