A funny, small-town lesbian romance about clashing cultures and daring to dream big.

LA-based English indie filmmaker Alex Levitin reluctantly takes a job in New Zealand to save the "worst movie ever", Shezan: Mistress of the Forest. Things might go easier for her if she didn't almost run over the standoffish, beautiful local cop on her first day in town. And it'd really help if her film set wasn't being mysteriously sabotaged.

When Ika Whenu's Senior Constable Sam Keegan isn't trying to stamp out a motorcycle gang drug problem afflicting her town, she's publicly slamming everything about the exploitative film, Shezan, and the Hollywood blow-ins making it. That includes its nerdy, cute director, Alex, who has woeful driving skills to go with her smart mouth.

Against the stunning scenery and chaotic film-set backdrop, attraction flares between the two warring women as they're forced to work together to find the set saboteur.

Contains mature themes.

Refreshingly intelligent, humorous and sexy. Hope this author and narrator have more titles I haven't heard yet! Above average for this genre.

i love the setting since i have never been to NZ. Hearing about what Alex is up to..and Chloe was a treat. Sam is a nuanced MC who simply adored. Thanks for creating an entertaining story and bringing in Bess, Summer and Skye!!

stick with the story

I enjoyed the name-drops and cameos. The book is well written, keeping my attention throughout which is not always easy.

Always a treat to read Lee Winter's books.

Lee Winter is becoming my favorite for this genre!!
Thank You Claire Alain for bringing these characters to life during narration.
I did listen to it on 1.2 speed when listening before bed as I didn’t want to leave a chapter midway. Changing the script was a treat !!

Fell in Love with characters and the setting

the book is a great Lee Winter book. but the narrator has a very limited repetoire of voices (basically one male and two female voice) so it requires effort to figure out who is talking, which breaks immersion.

they should have used the same narrator as they did in Breaking Character, which is the prequel to this book.

right book, wrong narrator

Lovely story, and a great revisit to the world of the Bard bunch, but I really wish they had stuck to Angela Daws as the narrator. Even though the characters from the first book didn’t feature much, it really irritates me when they change narrators half way through a series. I found this narrator to be quite rigid in her reading and she never voiced the characters very well.

I really enjoyed this book. The story isn’t cheesy and so predictable that I didn’t need to pay attention.
The writing is really, really good! The plot is funny and touching and clever, and I was pulled into it right away and stayed until the end. It kept me guessing, which is something I long for in a book.
The characters, all of them, were colorful and interesting. They weren’t just background noise. I found myself as caught up in them as the main characters.
The narration was spot on. I could actually visualize this like a movie. In fact, it would make an entertaining show to watch for sure!
I definitely appreciate Lee Winter’s writing style and story telling ability. This one does not disappoint. THANK YOU!

Absolutely loved it!

This story beautiful in all elements. Winter uses words like delicate instrument dividing and exposing the layers of the story. The characters not just the mains were so full that I could almost feel them next to me whilst I listened. The way the narrator changed her voice added another dimension. The back drop of New Zealand was described in such depth and love made me want to see it with my own eyes. I never thought that Winter could surpass her previous works but in this she did. I more than thoroughly recommend this book and do yourself a favor and listen to the audiobook. Your welcome!

Lee Winter has written another romance novel that was very enjoyable. Within this story you will find a little bit of action along with a touch of mystery and of course love. Sit back and enjoy.

Really enjoyed this storyline! It was fun and different and I enjoyed how the mystery of the saboteur played out.
Narration was great, the first I’ve heard from her and the accents in particular were lovely.

Cute and unique story
