Publisher's Summary

Nothing worth having comes easy.

Rainier Hart knows all about hiding. He’s ready to burst out of the closet, consequences be damned. His first escape attempt failed, but he’s not done fighting. Back in his hometown, all he has are a few worthless buildings and a job on a construction crew. What he needs is a firm hand to guide him - and a family that doesn’t look down their noses at him.

Colt Fuller is everything Rain isn’t...or is he? Rich, muscular, commanding, and very much out of place in Hart’s Bay, he wants more than Rain's run-down warehouses. He wants the surprisingly defiant little twink who owns them, too. The pull between them is too strong to ignore, even with everything that’s on the line.

Rain and Colt are perfectly matched: right down to the secrets they'd each prefer to keep buried. Those secrets threaten the very foundations they begin to build a life together on.

Because nothing stays secret in Hart’s Bay, including how they really feel about each other. Can they see past the bluster and into each other’s hearts?

Changed Hart is the second book in the new Hart’s Bay series about a small town full of nosy but well-meaning neighbors and brotherly banter. It can be enjoyed on its own, and promises a happily-ever-after ending and plenty of smiles and steam along the way. Plus, because it's Rain, more sass than anyone expected.

Excellent! Loved the 🎧Audible version!💗

I read the kindle version of this in September, so when the ARC for the Audible came my way, I am not ashamed to say weakness grabbed hold and I snatched it.

I love this series and the truth behind the fiction that speaks volumes, that even though change may be scary, it can happen in big ways if done in small doses over time. But, someone has to make that first step.

This was my first book with narrator, Greg Boudreaux, and children lemme just tell you, I will be doing some research for more of what he is serving. I have found a new narrator and mmman oh man does he bring a nice dinner to an already beautifully set table. **momma likey...😁

Secrets are revealed

Rainier is determined to take back his life and live it to the fullest. Colt is determined to make something of himself. As these two men work together to forge a new future, they must work through the secrets that have held both of them back. All the characters in this book is so realistic that you will find yourself confused that you're not walking besides them. I absolutely enjoyed every bit of it and can't wait for more.

I received an ARC of this audio for my honest review. Definitely a must listen, it is a beautiful love story, mysteries are solved, excitement galore and secrets are revealed. Five star small town romance!

First off I want to mention that I think Greg Boudreaux was the perfect fit for this audio. He brought a life to the story that I missed out in when I did the read through myself. E. Davis is FANFRIGGINTASTIC at small town romance. I love how the author didn’t shy away from the authenticity of the MCs falling in lust first. I love how the author mentioned how hard it is to find a connection in a small town and how just because two people are gay means they will click together. At first I wasn’t a fan of Colt but after getting his back story and him redeeming himself I loved him and Rain together ❤️ stick with him if at first he makes you roll your eyes!

Loved It!

I found Changed Hart to be a fun read with a great storyline, wonderful characters, a little bit of a slow-burn romance, and some off-the-charts chemistry! This was a great addition to this series.

Rain and Colt have a great connection that can be felt by the readers. They suit each other perfectly. I love the humor and snark that goes along with the heat! Can't wait for the next one!
Greg Boudreaux does an amazing job of bringing this story to life! I could listen to his voice all day!

Hot

I really was curious about Rain when he was introduced in book 1. You learn his backstory and I was surprised by a few things.
No spoilers here though!
He had instant chemistry with Colt which was super hot and Greg’s narration did not disappoint. I felt he did a fab job.
I’ll definitely want the next audio in this series!

Good story, enjoyed the narration a lot.

Rain and Colt made a great couple. They both had a lot to learn from each other, in the end their relationship grew and blossomed. I really disliked Rain's family, especially the granddad - he belongs in a home .... for horrible people!
Greg Boudreaux is as awesome as ever. I always enjoy his performance and this was no exception.
A great way to enjoy the story!

Learning to trust is never easy

This second book in the Hart's Bay series is a real gem. The history of the town once again plays a role, and the division of the Hart family is brought into play.

Rain is from the "other" side of the family; he was raised with money, entitlement, a lot of pressure, and a huge amount of misinformation. He's in the closet, or so he thinks; that is until a cocky stranger walks into Cher's bar acting like his poop doesn't stink.

Colt has been raised in foster care since his parents died, always being passed from house to house; never truly accepted. Now he's come into his inheritance, and he's ready to make his parents proud. He's set his sights on being a property developer, even though he has no experience. He wants to flip one of the derelict warehouses down by the harbor, but he feels he has to put on a good show to win over the owner; Rain.

They strike a mutually beneficial bargain, and start preparing for planning and construction. Along the way, Rain realizes that Colt is the best chance he has of fulfilling his needs. One thing leads to another, and the lines between business and pleasure start to blur. But, crotchety old Floyd is up to his nasty tricks, and tries to ruin everything with pranks and hurtful information.

Both Rain and Colt learn and grow throughout the story. Rain realizes that family is not just the people that raised you, and Colt realizes that maybe being himself is enough to be accepted after all. Through learning family secrets, deception, and the callousness of the ones who should have been supportive, Rain and Colt realize their dreams, and find their own happily ever after.

Greg Boudreaux does a fantastic performance as always. I really enjoyed reading the book, and I also enjoyed the audio. Although Mr. Boudreaux brought the characters to life in a different way, I'm not sure which medium I prefer.

The builder and the property developer

I've had the pleasure of enjoying the first book in this series too, which introduces the characters involved and the larger plot involving a long-standing family feud. Greg Boudreaux does an excellent job of bringing the guys and the story to life.
This book is about Rainier, the cousin of the MC from the first book, and how he comes round to the kinder side of the family. He now owns several properties in Hart's Bay after forcing his mean grandfather's hand during the events of the first book in the series. Colt is interested in one of the Warehouse properties and convinces Rainier to go in with him to develop the property to the benefit of them both. The two men are hiding secrets, but will revealing the truth set them free or cause disaster? And, of course, the mean grandfather tries to throw a spanner in the works, cause chaos and upset. Highly recommended Contemporary MM romance by the lovely Ed Davies, who creates such wonderfully complex and interesting characters.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening

Not the pairing I thought but oh, so good!!!

From the end of the last Hart’s Bay Novel, I thought Rain would be with his friend and co-worker but Ed surprised us with a new pairing ready to shake up Rain’s life and the Hart’s Bay they know.

I really liked the nuances between Colt and Rain and I really did feel they were perfect for each other. They could give and take, push and pull and be what each other needed. Of course, there’s the despicable meddling and nastiness from Grandpa Hart but thankfully Rain is able to break free from his awful parents and grandfather and make a new family with the resident gays and his cousin. It takes a lot and is a trying process for Rain to understand and accept these guys as his new, true, family but his journey and process to get there is beautifully written and so heartwarming you’ll fall in love with this collection of colorful characters too. I look forward to many more stories from Hart’s Bay as this group of beautiful souls find their happily ever afters too.

I loved it and can’t wait for more!!!

Thanks for reading!

Secrets and misrepresentations

Being in the closet is never easy. When you live in Hart’s Bay and you’re one of those Harts, life is even more complicated. Rainier – better known as Rain – is looking to make a place for himself in his hometown and when developer Colt Fuller comes to town, looking for properties to renovate, Rain sees the perfect chance. They agree to be business partners and embark upon the endeavor, dedicated to succeeding.

Each man has a secret, though, and secrets are always lurking, ready to spring out and create chaos.

I am enjoying the Hart’s Bay series. I love small town romances that are fairly low-angst. E. Davies always delivers on the promise of a nice story with interesting characters. Not every Hart has good intentions and some who were once seen as adversaries are soon becoming more than just those Harts.

As I said, coming out of the closet is never easy and when family secrets are revealed, Rain is shocked. That coupled with the secret Colt has been hiding leaves him reeling. But he has friends to support him and show him that maybe rushing to judgement isn’t always the right thing to do.

I enjoy Greg Boudreaux’s narration of this series. He and E. Davies work well together, delivering great books that guarantee a happy ending. There are more Hart’s Bay books to come and I can’t wait.

Great

Great addition to the series. This one is hot stuff.
Rain is closeted, coming from the 'bad' side of the Hart family, but readers of the first book would know it was implied he was fooling around with one of the other construction workers. However, this is not the relationship explored in this book.
When Rain meets Colt the attraction is instantaneous and as a listener you can feel this come through in every scene, even when they are talking about property development. E Davies' books are very physical and this one has some hot kinky scenes.
Love the small town setting and the close knit community vibe.
The narrator does an excellent job with this book.

lovely story

This was a great story. Full of acceptance (of yourself and others), of building trust and a loving relationship.

I liked Rain and Cold. They are both very insecure but ready to love. I loved their relationship and the way it developed.

Greg Boudreaux is, as always, amazing. He really brought both of them (and the side characters) to life.

Secrets and surprises

I really enjoyed this sweet story! Rain and Colt are great, multi-layered characters and great together, but they have secrets, attitude, and chips on their shoulders. Will Colt confess his subterfuge before he loses the foundation he is building with Rain? Both men have something to prove, but will they end up sabotaging themselves with secrets? The town of Hart's Bay has a number of secrets and it was fun to watch them slowly unravel. I loved watching Rain grow and eventually find the strength to reveal his nature and stand up to his parents and grandfather, but Floyd was not going to go down easy. Wonderful, mostly low angst story. I was a little puzzled about how Colt could spend so much time in foster care, yet still have an inheritance big enough to develop real estate in Hart's Bay, but that was the only thing that threw me out of the story.

I loved Greg Boudreaux's narration. His voicing of emotions and the variety of his characterizations really added flavor to the audiobook.

I received a review copy of the audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Romance and Intrigue 💙

This is my first E. Davies read and I enjoyed it. I love his writing style & the way the story unfolded.

Changed Hart is a slow-burn romance between Rain and Colt, two individuals who has an undeniable chemistry, but who are also finding their way & trying to start their lives independently.

I have not read the first book of this series, but I am loving the small town family drama, the secrets, the intrigue and revelations. It fits with the setting and the family dynamics is unique.

Colt & Rain are hot together, after all that tension and slow burn. 🔥

I’m going to go back and listen to the first book, I need the whole tea with what Floyd did and how that came to be... Floyd’s on my sh*tlist. Then I’ll keep reading/listening to the rest of the series.

Hart’s Bay sounds like a perfect coastal town series I can get hooked to, there’s the ideal location, the residents and the adventures as their lives unfold. 💕

Greg Boudreaux does not disappoint as he brings the characters to life with his narration. Always excellent with his skills. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Hart’s Bay...a town of sweet tales

So we met Rain in book 1 - where we were initially suspicious of him, coming from the ‘bad Harts’ as it were. However, poor Rain is so much deeper than the first look we had of him. Colt wants to buy some of the Hart warehouses and redevelop them. He makes it seem that he’s more of a property developer than he really is because he needs the validation.

Two men with so much in their pasts...can they move forward together and get their HEA?

I do love E. Davies writing. The perfect stories and characters that aren’t too full of angst, just right when you need that feel good listen. Both the deeper side of Rain and the side of Colt that really needs to prove himself and their conclusion gave me the warm fuzzies. The narration of Greg Boudreaux really gives a different dimension to the book that I read and and thoroughly enjoyed. Great narration for a great story.
