Seth is a master story teller

I picked this listen up thinking it would be a good time filler before the next installments come out from my favorite authors. Turns out I now have another series to follow! This book is superb. Tired of the overpowered MC? Worn out by authors who give everyting to their characters far too easily. Want a little struggle? This is the book for you. Refreshing in both the struggle but also in the meaningful victories Seth has created the start of a new masterpiece.

Super start to a new series

So good I went and bought book two in this series within an hour of starting this book!

It grows on you

while not as immediately engaging as Seth's Nova Terra series, this is still a solid start.

Good writing, as usual

Enjoyed the story and the new perspective and card system. Good characters. Good progression. Wish it was longer…but not all books can be 24 hours long lol

Great

I enjoy the author’s books. I have listened to most of his other books. This one is a great first book and it’s excellent. I look forward to going through the next couple of books. Story is awesome. The narration is great as well. First time hearing this narrator.

fantastic book!

I liked the sound of this book but I put it off feeling worried....I can say that brief fear was completely unfounded.
the world is very interestingwhthe main char is a little basic but has much room to grow and his companions hold ton of promise..

I've been craving good fantasy book aand found a great one.

This story doesn't stop. Great writing and MC development. Excellent narration and card bulking system.

Fabulous Narration

Great story! Lots of action, wonderful characters! I just can’t describe how cool this story is! I’m new to Seth Ring, I can’t wait for the next episode! The Narrator is awesome! I don’t know how he does it!

Solid story with a nagging plot point

Overall the book is solid, the magic system is a mix of soft and hard, it's a minor frustration (as in cards vs things like animal control) but nothing serious, characters are solid. My only major gripe is SPOILER that the MC, who is both a slave and a nonconsenting child soldier of the empire, is so hard on to serve the empire. The same Empire who is supposedly an enemy of his beloved mentor and home city. The dissonance is frustrating.
Still, its worth a read, I'll see what I think after book 2.
