Publisher's summary

Gideon calls me his angel, but he's the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own.

The vows we'd exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn't sure I was strong enough to bear.

At the brightest time in our lives, the darkness of his past encroached and threatened everything we'd worked so hard for. We faced a terrible choice: the familiar safety of the lives we'd had before each other or the fight for a future that suddenly seemed an impossible and hopeless dream...

Rollercoaster Ride

I am unsure on how to rate this book. I really liked the book but I am emotionally drained from listening to it. I was so invested in the characters and the story line and the hits kept on coming. I am trying to be objective considering the fact that it is the 4th in a 5 book series so I knew there would be no satisfaction at the end.
The books spans over a 3 week period in their relationship so it can't be resolved. If you understand the process of healing from sexual abuse you will get what she was getting at. She needed to develop that side of Gideon POV and that process is emotional and difficult to get through. Having said that, the Brett Kline thing was disappointing and I wish it would have been left out.
If you are invested in this series , you will enjoy this book but please be prepared for the roller coaster ride and understand that is purely character development and no significant advances in the storyline.
So in a direct appeal to Silvia Day. If you are at all reading your reviews. Thank you for showing the male perspective of a sexual abuse survivor and the consequences if you have not dealt with it. But please ........... for book # 5 let them both find their strength and claim their life. Finish their story line where it was worth for us to invest 3 years into this series. Skip the cookie cutter way out and span it over a few years not just weeks. If there ever was an extensive Happy Ending needed it would be in this series. Considering the time investment of the readers. I sincerely hope to see "One with you"published within a few months. Not years!!

The dual narration by Jill Redfield , Jeremy York was good. But Jill Redfield was so good with the delivery of the series I felt the added narrator was unnecessary.

A Conclusion Would have been good.

It was just more of the same thing and nothing new. I wanted to like it, and while I didn't hate it, I'm left feeling annoyed that there's going to be another one. Just starting to seem more and more like money making scheme to be stretching out the story that doesn't have enough to be a huge series book, thus sort of losing the ART of novel. That's my opinion, I'm sure it was a delight to others. I'm not sure if I'm interested enough to get the next one when it comes.

A Delicious love story. Gideon and Ava forever❤️💗❤️

The ultimate hot obsessive-alpha billionaire... Gideon Cross! *sigh* if only we could ALL have a Gideon!
What I love about this series is that the female main character Ava, is not what so many other books make their female protagonists out to be. You know, the whining when her billionaire lover showers her with gifts, or preferring to wear her second hand cocktail dress from junior prom to the met gala, because ‘oh no’ she will NOT accept a gift from the billionaire... oh please. Ava does what any sane and thankful woman would do... she says thank you! She squeals ‘yay’ when he gives her a one of a kind watch out of thoughtfulness. It’s refreshing to have an Ava in this genre.
If you’ve listened to 50shades, I’ll say it one hundred times... this series is BETTER! Perhaps I’m biased as I became a crossfire fan before hearing of fifty. Ava is a MUCH more interesting main character with backbone, sass, healthy appetite for her man and the kind of personality makes you want to hang with her at happy hour! This series is hot, sexy; intriguing and full of erotic moments, troublesome ex’s, deep personal tragedy and demons. This is a “captivating” storyline that will have you rooting for Ava & Gideon!

YES I WAS CAPTIVATED BUT ALAS STILL NO CLOSURE

Anyone who's been following the turbulent, obsessive, crazy and totally addictive love story between Gideon and Ava..... well you've probably either already downloaded this or you're listening to it now because, as fans of the series, we are all desperate that this tortured couple get their hard won HEA ending. But sadly, we don't get it with this book I'm afraid.

When I started this series I thought it was going to be a trilogy but it didn't end at book three so seeing this I thought finally!! but nope yet another drama filled and a 'to be continued' ending. There were parts that dragged, parts I loved and their were plenty of romantic "I love yous", bags and bags of needy, greedy and hot sex and we delve deeper into the heart-achingly awful nightmares that's haunting Gideon from his past abuse. And, yet again, it seems the world is out to get them by destroying what Gideon loves most.... Ava but, in the end, he manages to do it all by himself.

Come on Ms. Day enough is enough don't torture them, and us fans, any further, write a spectacular HEA ending for them that'll blow our minds and then finally we can all get closure on what has been an awesome series..... but do it STAT.

Worth a credit? This fell in my under $10 rule so I bought it but of course I'd of used a credit on it come on...... it's Sylvia Day - it's Gideon and Ava and it's one step closer to the fireworks of a finale that I'm desperately hoping for. Told from dual POV's and the narration was great but I'm still not a fan of dual narration.

Not captivated at all

I made it about halfway through this book before I gave up on it. The narrators were really bad. Jill Redfield's excellent performances in the first three books of this series has left the building. She sounded bored with all the melodrama and angst herself. And Jerermy York's performance was mostly flat, but also laughable when he did female voices. I just couldn't have their voices in my head anymore.

The constant repetition of the insecurities of these characters and the never ending effort to convey the idea that they truly love each other despite all the self-inflicted melodrama is way over the top. And to think their is a fifth book on the horizon is a bit nauseating. I already believe that this story could have been done in three books if they were properly edited, so adding another book to the series is really going to be much ado about nothing.

Happy about the addition of a male narrator

I've been procrastinating listening to this audiobook since November, but when Valentine's Day rolled around I decided that I was due for a guilty pleasure kind of title, and nothing fit the bill quite like Gideon & Ava Cross. I was also excited that this series FINALLY added a second narrator. As much as I've been enjoying Jill Redfield's performance, certain characters need that extra edge that only a male voice can bring, and I was hoping that Jeremy York would be up to the task. I wish that they'd read ALL of their respective personage's dialogues rather than just their specific chapters, but that's a common complaint of mine with dual readings. However, other than that, I had no issues with either of the narrators. My problems were with the lack of advancement on any front. Gideon & Ava are still struggling with the exact same obstacles only different versions of them, the story arc didn't really go anywhere, and the ending left me feeling like the next novel was going to be more of the same. CAPTIVATED BY YOU was like watching a dog try to catch its tail; painful and an exercise in futility.

CAPTIVATED. YES! THE END? SADLY NO.

I started reading The Crossfire Series and like most I was instantly caught up in the world of Gideon an Ava. I waited patiently for each book to be published so that I can stay up all night (always well worth it), to finish the book and enjoy their world. But now after four books, I’m almost at my end. Please don’t misunderstand, I loved this book. The heartache, the triumphs, the ups and downs, the raw grit and the love, painful in all its glory but now I just want my HEA. I think after everything that has happen, these two people deserve it more than anyone. As with Entwined in You, the story hasn’t progressed much since the last book and only spans a couple of weeks. Since this is the case, a lot of the healing process that needs to take place for Gideon hasn’t been achieved and I understand that but can we push this along just a little bit more. I love the fact that part of the book is told from Gideon’s POV. The reader finally gets a chance to understand his character. But the end of the book left so many lose ends, at this point, I will read the fifth book (hopefully it will be soon, hint hint Ms. Day) because I have invested soo much time, heartache and sleepless nights into this series I cannot do anything else. But Ms. Day, please deliver my HEA. PLEASE!!!

I like the dual narration of the story, allowing a male narrator to do the part of Gideon from his POV. But Jill does such a fantastic job; I really didn’t think that was necessary.

IMO, save the credit and buy the book. It’s under $10 and it’s well worth the read. But be warned, this book doesn’t contain an HEA and will leave with things being unsettled.

REALLY!!!!!!!

I truly enjoyed the first two books in this series. I gave them a 5 star The Third book was good but It dragged a bit,so I gave it a 4 Star and I thought well the 4th book has too...needs too, be the last and the best book. This fourth book was so boring everything dragged on and on and on. I gave the story a 2 star. It's very sad that after two years waiting for the book, "Sylvia Day" put a book together just to make money and drag on the series. I have told all my friends about this series, I enjoyed it more then Fifty Shades, I thought it was more mature. However in this book with the amount of sex was just way over the top AND THE DRAMA!!! I was very disillusioned with this book. Next time the 5th book and hopefully the last book in the series comes out, I will not pre-order. I will wait for the reviews. If its anything like this one I will not waist my money or credits.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? NOT AGAIN!!!

Any additional comments?

I cannot believe this series has been dragged out yet again. Two years waiting for this book - Entwined was a drag out and now so is Captivated. UNBELIEVABLE!! Not sure I'm going to wait to finish this series out - not to mention how long that will take. VERY disappointed.
