Publisher's summary

Legendary account of the author's voyage around Cape Horn in a 32-foot sailboat, sailing east to west (thus the Horn is to starboard, or on the right). This is a notoriously difficult and dangerous passage, especially in a boat this size.

A sailing classic

A story any sailor will love. I learned a lot about ocean sailing and the many facets that it has. The narration was pretty good!

A Sailing Classic

If you’re familiar with John Kretchmer’s writing, this book is certainly the epitome of his crazy adventures and love for the sea. As a fairly new sailor, I enjoyed his stories about just starting to sail all the way up to one of his greatest achievements. I highly recommend this book to anyone who’s in need of a vicarious adventure or some light sailing literature. The narration is good, although I preferred the performance of Sailing to The Edge of time the most.

Oh well

I love John Kretschmer as a writer. But just as he has gotten better as a sailor so has his writing. This was an earlier product. Worth listening to but not as enjoyable as his later works.

Enjoyable and a good read/listen

This was the third book that I’ve encounter from John Kretschmer, and I believe the first he wrote. He has a wonderful way of storytelling with useful information in the story. I am looking forward to reading his new book that just came out. One of my favorite seagoing authors.

Sailing the roads with John Kretschmer

My wife, Kay, and I enjoyed the book very much as we toured California in our 25ft RV. We also had our share of issues ( electrical) but Johns writing and Tom’s narration kept us entertained. I take the ASA 101 at the end of April 2021 and one day if John is still teaching would love to join him and listen to more of his tales. Martin

Great story-

The fact that it’s true makes it even better. I can’t wait for his next book.

I love sailing stories

I enjoyed listening to Cape Horn to Starboard. I had many sailing adventures on my Dad’s boat, Sealestial and I was able to relive them and relate to real life experiences. This book was exciting and even had a love story!!

Superb story.

It’s not just an interesting story, it’s told by someone with a natural talent for storytelling.
