Publisher's Summary
True love is on the line in this charming, laugh-out-loud rom-com - created specifically for the audio format!
Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Cal. He’s surprisingly helpful and really knows his stuff, even if he’s a little awkward...in an adorable way.
And suddenly I’m flirting with him? And I think he’s flirting back.
And suddenly it’s been hours, and we’re still on the phone talking and ordering each other takeout while he troubleshoots my website.
And suddenly we’re exchanging numbers and sending texts and DMs every day, leaving voice mails (who even does that anymore?!).
And suddenly I’m wondering if it’s possible for two people to fall in love at first talk.
Because I’m falling...hard.

Motherhood isn’t easy, especially when you’re a mother of a Black son. Ten years ago, Cheryl jumped at the chance to send her son, Javonte, to an exclusive boarding school in New England - far away from Atlanta and the violence of the city streets. It was the American dream, or was it? Now settled in Vermont, Javonte is married and well-employed, but Cheryl hardly ever sees him, and when she does, her own son seems like someone she only used to know.

Just my luck - my new next door neighbor is a unicorn. Yep, the British hottie is clearly a mythical man because - get this - he's a sexy, witty, charming, big-hearted single dad. Who, wait for it, wants to find Mrs. Right and get hitched. He’s a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of man, and it’s a darn shame I’m not on the market. If I were, his accent alone would melt me. Add in the fact that he's a veterinarian, and my animal-loving heart would be flip flopping.

The annual Valentine’s Day singles soiree is always a big money-maker for Eloisa Giordono’s winery. What could be more romantic than looking for love at a quaint family vineyard on the most romantic night of year? Well, just about anything as far as Eloisa is concerned. She’s a Valentine’s Day Grinch who thinks it’s the lamest, most clichéd holiday ever invented. But Eloisa is thrown for a loop when a sexy, self-described hopeless romantic shows up at the singles soiree and keeps her captivated.

"Just three dates. That's all I'm asking. One boy shares your sense of humor. Another has similar interests and ideals. The third boy has a helpful heart like yours." When Aditi Gupta comes home late from work as a pediatric resident one night and her grandfather offers this pitch, she reluctantly agrees. She's far too busy with med school to be dating, and besides, she dreams of a love for the ages, like her parents, not an arranged marriage. And yet she finds herself agreeing to three dates because she loves her grandfather. All she has to do is make herself utterly ineligible.

A down-to-earth global pop star. A deeply spiritual, cerebral powerhouse. A famously outspoken introvert. For her millions of fans, and the few unacquainted, defining rock luminary Alanis Morissette is an exercise in dichotomies and nuance. And though her most formidable traits are seemingly at odds with one another, they are, oddly enough, completely emblematic of all of us: complex, conflicting, and, most importantly, ever evolving. With her striking command of language and profound emotional fluency, the 46-year-old covers an enormous amount of personal ground with listeners.

Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.

Ava thinks love should be found in the real world, not on apps that filter men by height, job, or astrological sign. She believes in feelings, not algorithms. So after a recent breakup and dating app debacle, she decides to put love on hold and escapes to a remote writers' retreat in coastal Italy. At the retreat, she's not allowed to use her real name or reveal any personal information. Greatest Audible Preformance
I absolutely loved listening to this audible book.... for nearly all of the story. The performers were great! So easy to get caught up in the story! It was almost perfect!!!
My only problem with it was later on the story when all of a sudden there was a lot of the use of the “F” word. So Disappointing!!! And Totally unnecessary and distracted from the great Preformance. I would have given 5 stars with every category if it wasn’t for the language. I do hope Audible will be offering more books like this where the characters do their own voices. It’s like watching a movie in your own head. Awesome!! But trust me .... you don’t need to include the “ F” word. It totally is offensive to many people, and your story was great without it.

HIGHLY ENTERTAINING
This is my first review even though I have been listening to audiobooks over a year, mostly to still binge “read” while working and to ignore my coworkers theatrics. I loved it all! It was literally like listening to a favorite movie without looking at the screen. I’m sad that I reached the end. I would love to hear a sequel but fear it wouldn’t live up to the first book.

Bastone is definitely a new favorite author.
Cara Bastone’s authorial voice is absolutely captivating and she works within the romance genre conventions while bringing pretty unique spins on various tropes. I absolutely love the way she writes complex family dynamics and that shines in this book despite being in the background. And the romance itself between Vera and Cal? Magical. I screamed, I laughed out loud, I squealed more times than I can count. I can’t wait for more.
Also, the production value of this book is incredible. It sounds like you’re listening to a movie and I loved everything about it. Thank you, Audible, for the advanced listener copy! These opinions are entirely my own.

A Sweet Romance
This is a 3D audio story and I really enjoy listening to them. Hopefully audible will do more.
They really do bring the story to life.
Cal and Vera meet through a customer call centre when Vera rings up to make a complaint about her website. They spend 8 hours together on the telephone ☎️ 😲.
This is a fun listen that will keep you listening all the way to the end. Vera is fun and Cal is thoughtful and sweet.
I definitely recommend this to all romance readers.

What a lovely surprise.
I thought the story was sweet and simple at first, and was enjoying the narrators' performances. Well done on the duet format by the way, this should be used far more often than it is despite the cost as we are paying a fair price to listen.
Then the story started to grab me with all its 'interruptions' and I quickly clued in on the twist. I started groaning, cheering and laughing out loud and found myself immersed in their budding romance.
Surprisingly refreshing and enjoyable and I will look out for another....I think Elliot might have a story there?
