much like the GSK Audio book

This book is similar to the Golden State Killer bok that Audible produced (can't remember the name), with interviews and an almost news/documentary style.

I love this being a huge fan of both non fiction, true crime, and this format. very well produced and a great insight especially from the woman who knew John Mohammed before he was Mohammed.

use the credit, enjoy. even if you're not a fan of non fiction- this one is worth it.

Worth every penny and every minute

Riveting, engaging, informative. I listened to the whole book in two days. I’m very finicky about audio books. Often the voices or audio production can inhibit the story; but this audio is perfect. Every voice was clear, and added depth to the story. Having the actual agents, officers, family members, victims, and survivors on the audio really kept this story completely human. Well done and worth listening.

Couldn't Turn Off

I listened to this almost all the way through, I could not turn it off! It's definitely more of a podcast like what they did with Evil Has a Name (which I also highly recommend). The series does a fantastic job of giving an overview of the events and the investigative tactics used by law enforcement in this case, but it's also s very personal story as the main narrators were involved and their family members make appearances and speak about how the DC sniper attacks affected them. I'm really surprised I hadn't heard about this before, especially as I live fairly close to where one of the preliminary shootings took place. I hope they make more true crime podcasts like this and Evil Has a Name! Highly recommend!

Near Perfect

This audiobook feels more like a serial podcast, with music and first-hand interviews.

I remember certain parts of this story. This audiobook helps fill in the gaps.

Good reporting with a little too much sound design

I found this audio program interesting and would recommend it. My one caveat is that the soundscape is a bit too aggressive. Playing a bed of piano music under interviews to elicit emotion, for example, is a crutch used too often. The story is power and compelling enough that this sort of presentation took away from the narrative.

Chilling and Captivating

I listened to this in its entirety in a single day while at work. The story was one I was completely unfamiliar with and was hooked almost immediately.
The events are unfolded and delivered tactfully to keep you interested.
My only complaint is that at the end and beginning of each chapter the same music plays as if this were episodes of a podcast or something. It started to get irritating after awhile.

The format was excellent. It was easy to follow and very intriguing. I remember when this happened, it was way too close to home.

What they call music almost ruins the whole book

excellent book!!

this book was amazing in that so much of the story and the narration were directly from the people that were involved in the investigation, and telling in fine detail how they finally captured these criminals and brought them to justice. it was emotional, intense, and told with an urgency and frustration that was felt by those involved during that long horrendous Siege of killing. I thought it was extremely well done.

Excellent

This book is told from multiple viewpoints about the hunt and arrest of the DC snipers . It goes into lots of detail about all the behind the scenes things that happened. You get to know the FBI profilers, the killers, and several family members of the victims. A very well told story with great respect and attention to the victims. You really don’t get to know much about them by watching the news. It sounds as if our world lost some beautiful people the day these guys went on their rampage.

tragic case - left me with questions

horrendous case , tricky to know what to write for review.
for me it was informative, on a case I knew little about.
I was left wondering about some of the errors ( in my opinion) made early on by Police / investigators , and wondering what has been learnt following this case.
it was a massive case to fit into a docu- audio series.
interesting series if you are interested in true crime cases.
it is a heart breaking case however, and many lives were affected.
this case does make reference to suggestion of abuse , familiar violence, religious ideology, and capital punishment. It may not be suitable for everyone.

Non Sensationalist Account

A murderous tale which does not glamorise the murderers. The victims are given full attention as are their families. The conclusions and editorial slant are in favour of the death penalty but the victim who disagreed is given voice as well.
The images of the bereaved cheering as they watched a man tied down and killed was as chilling as the awful crimes he committed. Excellent series.

Fascinating

I remember the DC Sniper killings but I don't think I had comprehended quite how long the city was held hostage. Hearing first hand accounts from survivors, the loved ones of victims, police and FBI officers was extremely powerful and frequently heart breaking. To discover how the pair had ended up together, what drove them to commit such heinous crimes and other such facts was incredibly frustrating as maybe there were missed opportunities to stop them along the road they finally took. Both Jim and Tim Clemente came across as dedicated and brave officers. The heartbroken widows, widowers, siblings, parents, all the people left behind, who were courageous enough to speak, were dignified, honouring their departed, loved family members with their words and their testament that good will always defeat evil. Sadly, though we lost soldiers along the way, their eloquence in the face of such adversity can only be commended and admired. A well researched and well explained logical account of a terrible time in America's history. Highly recommended.

Great detail

Good description of full chase to catch the culprit. Wide variety of fbi, police snd witnesses speaking of their role / experience. Could have done it in fewer episodes though.

Wow

I remember this but didn't really understand the depth of it. This podcast explains it all. Crazy what some people are capable of. God bless all the victims and families.

I had to give up

I'm sure they're wonderful fbi agents, but they're not storytellers. This needed the heavy hands of a component and ruthless editor.

Great story, ruined by overproduction

One of the most interesting crime stories diminished by overproduction and poor writing. The series sounds like a cheap TV documentary and goes off on numerous pointless tangents that take away from the story being told.

A good listen even though it wasn't a novel. I still enjoyed listening to it.
