Deserving of Death

Women’s bodies keep turning up, and CJ becomes a person of interest, then the prime suspect, the subject of a manhunt from the Idaho panhandle to Southern Arizona. Bodies continue to drop around him until his deepest fear is pushed upon him and his investigative skills are challenged at the highest level.

Sailing into Death

Find Douglas no matter what, CJ is told. It’s off to Florida where he finds him dead. With the FBI, HLS, Interpol, and who knows who else involved, can CJ and Stella figure out who killed Douglas and what it all has to do with his being born in the middle of the Battle of the Bogside in Derry, Northern Ireland, in 1969?

Angel of Death

Did Jesper Monnier die at his own hand or was it the young man who the twins hustled on the pool table in Atlantic City, or a jealous boyfriend, or a disgruntled employee of the huge superyacht? Or was it someone else altogether? Are CJ and Stella, now P.I. partners, actually going to get married

Never Surrender to Death

CJ and Stella are on their honeymoon in New Zealand when they find themselves embroiled in the search for a murderer of children. From Auckland and Papatoetoe to National Park on North Island, across Cook Strait to South Island and on down to Christchurch, they pursue both the killer and their honeymoon.

Compelling

I love how his stories connect together, and you can really relate to the characters. I’ve read both of his bundles, and I’m going to look for more books by him.

Love his Books

Fun, slightly cliche PI tale, but entertaining nonetheless. The voice talent is absolutely RUBBISH with accents! His Batman-esque voice for the main character (esp in book 1) was annoying, but bearable, but then things went from bad to worse… His ‘Irish” accent was like a Dick Van Dyke cockney mess. The French accent was worse, like Pepe Lepew, choking on a frog. The pronunciation of French words was disastrous- even Merci - (weirdly pronounced like mare-say) by ‘French” characters. The New Zealand accent was sort of a throaty re-warmed version of his Irish/Cockney accent, with loads of Aussie/Kiwi words thrown in, and marveled at, by the main characters. Who doesn’t know the ‘boot’ is a the truck of the car? C’mon.

Fun story, HORRIBLE ACCENTS

I love how each tie together yet were in different places and with different characters. Especially 4 being in New Zealand. Quite different. The narrator did a great job differentiating the characters making it easy to follow.

Loved them all

mind numbing how dumb CJ is, annoying and idiotic. Had potential but fizzled with stupidity.

Can CJ be any more stupid

Great series, all 4 books kept a nice pace for listening. A few cliché moments here and there but overall a good book, definitely enhanced by a great narrator. Mr. Bildner’s variety of voices definitely added to the flow of the story and for the most part we’re well done with regards to accents and character individual development. Well worth your time to listen.

Very Entertaining audiobook series

The stories are a little basic, "See spot solve Crime". The main character's "Batman" voice is difficult to get used to, but the narrator does a good job with other voices.

Decent

Wish it was longer. There needs to be sequels. Hated when it was over.

Great narration

Absolutely loved it! I was not ready for this to end. Will be checking for more.

Detectives with Heart

The stories are always excellent. However, the first two books were annoying with constant explanations. It felt like mansplaining. By the fourth book, these explanations were significantly reduced. The narrator's foreign accents in the Angel of Death were not always pleasing. They were either overly precise or were missing something. However, in the fourth book, the NZ accents were much better. The voices of CJ and Stella are good as are the other American voices. Aside from these concerns, the narration was very good. The books reminded me a little of the culinary mysteries of Josi Kilpack. Perhaps the best way to classify these books are to identify them as a new genre of tourist mysteries (half travel adventure, half mystery). By the end of the fourth book, I became hooked. I suspect I will listen to all of them.
