Sparks joy and renews hope

Nikki Kraemer, is a drug-addicted shell of what she used to be. The book begins with her begging to die. She’s not what she used to be. She used to have dreams. She used to have a happy, fulfilled home life. All that’s left is a motel junky with a sarcastic sense of humor. Through rather unusual developments, she finds and fulfills her dreams again. She finds a home and undying love. But a whole lot of messed up stuff happens to her first. This book is a delightful journey that brought joy and hope into my long commutes.

Captivating!

I'm always a bit unsure when I read a dark romance book from a new author because I have no idea what to expect. This one definitely falls in that category. It is one of those stories that you'll remember even after listening to hundreds of other stories because it was unpredictable and unexpected. I would almost consider this more of a psychological thriller than a romantic suspense. It had twists and turns with no guarantees in it. I don't want to give anything away but if you aren't afraid of triggers and like something a little different, then this book is for you. Tori Leigh did a great job bringing this story to life. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Dark, twisted and intriguing

A crazy tale about two deeply damaged people that seek redemption and acceptance even if they weren't looking for it initially. A crazy setup of a kidnapped drug addict being held hostage by a seemingly evil person looking to do unknown harm to them turns into an almost back and forth of delving into the character's worst attributes and letting them see the light of day in front of each other. The book covered some things I didn't think it would and goes some dark paths that definitely made me feel some type of way, but throughout it kept me listening to find out what happened next. I think it goes through some heavy terrain and has its characters deal with issues, and shows them in an out of this world manner. Not for everyone, but those that can get into the book will be captivated all the way through.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

Unique & intriguing story combining various genres

Nikki is a heroine addict and wakes up tied to a bed. Her captor, Isaac, helps her battle her addiction and previous demons that still haunt her, at the same time dealing with his own past demons.

This was a brilliant story. I abolsutely loved it! It was deep and dark, yet emotional and romantic. It was completely intriguing and totally worth it. I could not stop listening. It developed in a completely unpredictable way and was bittersweet. I highly recommend it!

Tori narrated well and had excellent intonation and energy in her performance. She made the story even more enjoyable for me.

Riveting story!

Gotta say, the Audible sample reeled me in to this thriller but the plot delivered.

I am new to Audible. As a voracious reader for all my years, I wondered how I’d like it. It’s a whole new world. I actually can clean house while reading!
I was surprised how the narration/ narrator did super well in drawing me into the atmosphere. Felt like I was there with her.

Butterfly Trap is a winner.

Butterfly Trap kept me listening far past my usual bedtime. It is an intriguing story, very well-written and very well read. I look forward to more by the same author and the same narrator

Intriguing and Beautiful

I had to take a couple of days after finishing this novel to put my thoughts and words to it, and I still may not be able to truly articulate my feelings.

This story feels unique, even tho the arch of the story is not. It's not just about a girl held captive and her captor, it's about how we hold ourselves captive. How we give others power over our safety, our physical and mental well-being.

The craft of this story is beautiful. Full of analogies, metaphors, and vivid imagery. This may be a distraction for some, but for me, I soaked it all up, intrigued and floored by some of the comparisons and imagery used that was unexpected. What lost me were some of the plot lines that were too unrealistic to me. Yes, Stockholm Syndrome is real. But how the police treated her; the marriage; her mother... Maybe my hopes for Nikki clouded how I interpreted the plot points.

For the most part, Tori Leigh's narration brought the story to life. But there was one pronunciation that I could NOT handle, and it even took away from enjoying the story. Escape. Instead of eh-skaype or ih-skeype, Leigh continuously pronounced it ex-skape. And in this type of story, that word was read A LOT. My poor ears.

Overall, this was a great novel and I'm excited to read more works by this author!

Just Wow

This was a great story!!! I didn’t read the synopsis so I didn’t know what to expect. It was very suspenseful. You didn’t know what to expect. I loved how Nikki opened up to her captor to try to survive. I didn’t like “him” and was just waiting for something bad to happen. I was on the edge of my seat. Without giving away the story....I loved Isaac with Nicole. I laughed and cried and then sobbed. I was a mess when I finished. Btw....do not finish this Audible in public. I was listening while getting my nails done. I think she thought I didn’t like them. I assured her I was crying because of the book. Lol. Great story!! Will read this author again!!

Good Read

Butterfly Trap was a good read by T.L. Fisher. Nikki Kraemer is a party girl who wakes up tied to a dirty mattress in a basement. She's terrified and her reality becomes more terrified as she is withdrawing from her addiction. For the last ten years, Isaac Burns had a dangerous secret that has killed his moral integrity. He is confronting the demon head on but Nikki isn't what he expected. This is a romantic thriller that has some dark subject matter; murder, sexual abuse, and drugs.
