Publisher's Summary

This New York Times best-selling memoir is read by Maci herself!

When a good southern girl becomes a single teen mom, how does she hold onto her dreams?

Maci Bookout was just a normal, slightly overachieving high school girl in Chattanooga, Tennessee. But then she got pregnant, and everything turned upside down. Even as she rose to fame on MTV's hit series Teen Mom, Maci was struggling to balance life as a single teen mom with her own hopes and dreams...all while honoring her own sense of independence.

This is the true story of how she took charge of the unexpected to build a life for herself and her son, Bentley, and managed not to go crazy in the process. Because sometimes growing up is an act of will...and Maci's will is bulletproof.

Good Read

I enjoyed the book very much. I learned a few things I didn't know before. My only issue with it was There was no emotion to the reading. Her tone was very stagnant. Other than that I loved it! Especially that Maci narrated it herself.

Loved the story

I loved the story and understand more of what she went though. But the narration could have had a little more character to it.

Pretty good story

Set my expectations for this one pretty low, but it turned out to be pretty good! Love that she did her own narration, that helped a lot. Some good stories that we didn't hear in the show

So enlightening

I absolutely loved Bulletproof. It allowed you into a part of Maci's life that we didn't see on 16 & Pregnant or on Teen Mom. Even if you don't watch the show this is a great book to read or give someone as a cautionary tale, but yet shows struggles and triumphs. So cool that Maci narrates it herself because it allows you to really picture the story. I loved it. Maci has a knack for poetry and writing.

Love this book

Maci does a great job narrating. I love that she tells her story from her perspective without mtv editing. And the fact that her break up with Kyle and the start of her and Taylor’s relationship were included.

Seen the show ?

If you've seen the Teen Mom show with the author, then save your money on the book. It's honestly a repeat of what was on the show. I didn't hear a blooming thing that was any different. Not bad writing and the author did a nice job telling her story, but if you've heard it on tv, you'd be wasting your money to repeat it by listening to it again.

Well read interesting read.

I had read the snippet on kindle and thought it read well. Though it made more financial sense for me to get it on audible.
I looked at other reviews first and they were quite negative on Maci's performance.
I'm glad I ignored these comments and got the book. I loved Maci's performance as it came across as more real and helped me feel a connection to her. It's really brave to put you're self out there.
If you've followed her story on teen mom you'll love this book.
