This book is a creative introduction to Buddhist teachings. The work was assembled from existing English translations of Buddhist texts. It is modeled on the New Testament and tells the story of Buddha through parables. It was an important tool in introducing Buddhism to the west beginning in 1894.

Museum Audiobooks strives to present audiobook versions of authentic, unabridged historical texts from prior eras which contain a variety of points of view. Originally picked up a hard copy version of this book while visiting India in the late '80s, took it with me to Thailand at the age of 12 to become a novice monk. The book itself utilizes much creative license and borrows heavily from Hindu tradition. I still remember reading it while I lived in a forest monastery and hoped to relive some of those moments with this audiobook. Sadly the narrator speaks a bit too fast, largely in monotone and British accent, which add up to be very detracting from the book content.

Narrator speaks too fast, and accent is distracting.
