Publisher's Summary

Dr. Trevor James didn't want or expect anything from anybody. He worked every free minute he had and kept himself shut off from almost everybody. He had no intention on living his life any other way after losing the love of his life. Everything was going according to his plan until two interruptions started to change his way of thinking: his father's illness and Ryann Payne.

Ryann Payne lived a life of simplicity. She was happy with her modest life as a bartender and living a life where she answered to nobody. She surrounded herself with the things that she loved, never taking anything for granted after losing what she loved most before. The last thing she expected was to meet Trevor, Mr. Intense.

Both Trevor and Ryann find out though that no matter how broken you are, there still might be someone out there that can mend you and maybe, just maybe, bring you the happiness you deserved all along. If you let it, that is.

Short but sweet story

Cute story set in Texas. Both characters are fighting demons from their past. Joe and Maxine were perfect as usual. Loved Maxine’s southern accent.

Poor Me the Drama King meets Sweet Mary Sunshine

A 28 year old Doctor with the stunted emotional development of a teenager finally gets over a teenage breakup that results in an estrangement with his father. The character of Trevor James is so depressingly boring. He is ridiculously immature and Is convinced he is broken and unable to love but then he meet Ryann, who has had a tough life but a sweet, possotove temperament. It takes them until the last 1/2 hour for her positive attitude to work on him as he beers to work through his regrets and guilt. It is a PG story but Trevor and his friend Maxwell are so immature that the story is more laughable than tragic. The narration is great but it is impossible to feel sympathetic towards the guy. Not worth listening to.

Lackluster Hero

Woe is me...

We spend more than half the book waiting to see why the hero is so broken, and why he has forsaken his family, specially his father, and everything else to do with love.

Well, after all the wait, when we finally find out why he was the way he was all I wanted to do was present him with the world's tiniest violinist playing a sad tune just for him! Geez! What a selfish immature @$$! I can understand resentment of some kind when you are young and you think you have been wronged, but forsaking his family the way he did and for the reason he did it after so much time passes? Nope, just no!

The heroine also goes through difficult times, but she stands up and keeps going. She was Miss Sunshine to the hero, but I just couldn't see them working out as a couple. I simply didn't connect with them. For me they didn't have the right chemistry.

I see many good reviews, so don't let my less than stellar opinion stop you from listening.

The narrators are two of my favorite and they were great! The book book was just not for me.
