Life was simpler when someone was around to tell him what to do. With a band of Adventurers looking to him for direction, whether he likes it or not, Trent Embra needed to figure out how to lead them.

But how was he supposed to lead when there were so many things Trent hadn’t figured out for himself?

An unidentifiable seed in his Storage, and whispers in his head, Trent points his team west towards the wilds. It was as good a direction as any. Maybe in uncivilized lands, Trent would learn what it meant to be an Adventurer and sort through what mattered most.

The very beginning of this book feels out of placed and this book tries to smooth out the wrinkles that it created. Progress is made with other characters outside of Trent, but Trent somehow gains a weird and basically annoying ability that doesn't reveal anything to Trent just to drain loot. We left off book 3 that cliff hangs us that the next adventure will be West, but this book stalls that progress for a new character.

We go west...just not this book.

I'm convinced that lost of the people who leave reviews complaining about different perspectives have never read a book themselves. This is the fourth book in the series and you now have issue with a new character being used to build the world? Some of these reviews read as if they couldn't get past the first three chapters because they didn't hear a familiar name. Goofy and stupid. Spare us all your idiocy.

Stupid people

This book feels and probably is a setup to build on characters for the future there's a lot of complaining that it is pointless and goes nowhere but always sprinting forward at a breakneck pace is a great way to destroy a story.
You can skip this book if you don't want a slower book mostly consisting of character interactions.
You don't have to like it and I can see why people are disappointed compared to earlier books but an author choosing to flush out the characters we will be moving forward with shouldn't be a call for scorn, motivations should be set up and explored instead of glossed over and forced.

yes it's slow

I love the series, I am content with this book building the story up for future books. This book was not as good as the last but it was still good.

Love the series
