Story
Adventure. It's what my boring life is missing, so when I fall through a portal into another world, I'm excited. Here, I'm important. Here, I'm special. I find out just how special when I meet Death. He's been exiled to the mortal realm to work through his flaws, and he's just as spoiled and awful as you'd think. Rhagos, the Shadow Lord, is arrogant and rude and controlling and demands to get his way. He's selfish. He's impossible. He's also utterly gorgeous.

Story
Life on a farm planet at the edge of the universe can be dangerous for a human woman alone. That's why I need a husband. Any husband. Unfortunately, all the men I approach keep running off. So I hire a bounty hunter to kidnap me someone capable and strong, someone who will scare off the creeps who are trying to move in on my territory. It'll be a marriage of convenience only. I should have been a little more specific about who I wanted, though....

The three va Sithai brothers - that's us - cruise the universe looking for abandoned ships, treasure, and other pirate ships to rob. Right now, we're on the hunt for the Buoyant Star, an abandoned cruiser rumored to have a massive treasure inside. The ship's been found at the edge of an ice field at the far reaches of space. That treasure? About to be all ours. But the ship's not all that abandoned. The Star is crewed by a few lonely, attractive human females who are thoroughly grateful at being rescued. Actually, wait. They're not grateful at all.

When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed. Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed. Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her, and hers towards him. And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

My name is Alice, and I live in the Bugpocalypse. I survived my first post-apocalyptic winter, and spring is here. That’s bad news! With warm weather comes the endless swarms of deadly bugs. I need to forage for food, but there’s just one little problem. Okay, so “little” isn’t the best word to describe the fierce Xarc’n warrior who is obsessed with me. Kaj’k is freakin’ huge! Publisher's Summary
When I went to my neighbor's apartment to investigate strange sounds, I never expected to fall through a portal into another world. Yet here I am, a stranger in an even stranger land...and I'm stranded. In this world, might makes right, men carry swords, and gods walk the earth. Within minutes of arriving, I'm enslaved.
The one person that might be able to help me is also the one person I want to throttle most. Aron, Lord of Storms, Butcher God of Battle, is my new companion. Or rather, I'm his. As Aron's anchor to the mortal realm, I'm the one that's supposed to be guiding him through his exile in the mortal world.
But Aron and I have a common goal - get home. And we're bonded - anchor and god - with a bond unlike any other. So, we travel together. We bicker. We bathe together. We fight our many, many enemies together. And sure, he's a god, but he's also an arrogant jerk. Brawny, smoking hot, irresistible jerk. I should want nothing to do with him. I certainly shouldn't want to do things to him.
Contains mature themes.

Epic!
4 Blue Roses
3.5 to 4 Blue Flames
Narrator Kendall Taylor delivered a flawless narration; highlighting one of the best Ruby Dixon novels. Her ability to manipulate her different voices, guaranteed a wholesome enjoyment of the audiobook. The tale starts out quite familiar. Young office worker living alone, hearing sounds in the apartment next door, she investigates and next moment she wakes up in another world. That is where the familiarity ends.
Her journey takes her through a magnificent world which was crafted beautifully. The fantastical world building was ingenious and delicate. It's elaborate execution through beauty, wonder, and the ability to twist the familiar ensured an escape from reality to experience all things a romantic paranormal fantasy should be.
My favorite coffee snorting moment was: “When he pulled out of me he left me as hollow as those chocolate easter bunnies “
I do recommend this audiobook, it's different and very enjoyable. I like that it's longer than usual, it made the epic journey so much better!

3.5 stars. For lovers of Gods and mortals romance.
This story is for you if love novels about Gods, and you can accept this romance is completely different to Ruby Dixon’s ICE PLANET BARBARIANS SERIES.
This story features the main characters from the novella, THE KING’S SPINSTER BRIDE (I read it on Kindle but it's now on Audible). It’s not essential to read THE KING’S SPINSTER BRIDE, but it’s a lovely, short romance and I recommend reading it if you can.
BOUND TO THE BATTLE GOD is about an arrogant, war-loving God, Aron of the Cleaver, who transforms into a loving being. His character development is aided by the pesky little mortal, Faith, who changes his perspective on life, and turns his world upside down.
The love story is a slow-burn, and once the loving starts, it’s full-on. Despite the good build-up though, I personally didn’t feel the chemistry and tension were as compelling as in other Ruby Dixon novels. But the overall story is great. I laughed at the humour, the original world-building intrigued me, and the strength of the characters in the face of difficult challenges kept me holding on. I usually like stories to be 10 or less hours of listening. It says a lot, therefore, that I listened to the whole 21 hours+ of this novel.
Maybe I'm just not into stories about Gods and mortals. It could also be that the narration may have impacted on my enjoyment of the romance. The heroine, Faith, is a young woman and tells the story entirely from her point of view. Unfortunately, even though I could acknowledge she did an excellent job narrating, I didn’t feel Kendall Taylor’s voice fit the look of Faith on the cover. But that’s just me. I took a chance when I pre-ordered the story before there was a sample to listen to. My advice is: listen to the Audible sample now available. Hopefully, you like what you hear.
If you love reading about Gods and their relationships with mortals, you will love BOUND TO THE BATTLE GOD.

Epic Adventure
I really loved the story line, the world building, and the characters. I really enjoyed this book however, it should have definitely been edited down a LOT more. There were times when it dragged on a bit and things that could have been left out without notice to the story. Overall, certainly worth the credit.

23 Hours? Not long enough!
I absolutely loved this book! 23 hours was not long enough! felt as though it flew by. I have been enraptured since the first second to the last! I hope there is another story with the Gods that includes these main characters included. I love when characters intertwine so you can see what's going on in their future as well. I love all of Ruby Dixon's books, but this takes the cake!

A slow burn romance.
I really liked this book. It is one of my new favourite ones from Ruby Dixon. It reminded me off Kristen Ashley fantasy land series which I absolutely loved.
Aron is arrogant and aggravating, but in a way that is funny because he doesn't know any better. He is a God and acts very much like one at times with his attitude. However, as the book goes on he becomes somewhat affectionate and possessive towards his Anchor, Faith. The way he was portrayed was spot one. His visible character growth was one of the things that made the book enjoyable.
Faith was Aron's perfect match. She was smart, sassy and very courageous. She held her own throughout the entire book, giving just as much as she received. She was funny and sarcastic and made me laugh a lot.
I really hope that Ruby Dixon does another one of these books as I enjoyed this one a lot. I would very much like to know how the other gods and their anchors were with each other. Hopefully, quite like Aron and Faith to begin with. Looking forward to the next book if there is one.

This set the bar for all other audiobooks
I adore this author and this is a brilliant read...and audiobook
This review is on the narration not the book
.. ok book and story 5*
Narration 5* and I wish I could award higher marks
For me the choice of narrator was a perfect and brilliant choice
Normally the narrator tells the story, but Kendall Taylor becomes the characters and it is their story that is shared. This blend elevates the book rather than simply shares and this sets the standard for all other audiobooks
I normally follow an author, but I will check other work by the same narrator as well as other audiobooks by this author

loved this romantic epic ,very normal girl from Chicago somehow finds herself on another plane and plunged into a situation where she has to be a mortal anchor for a battle god thrown out of heaven.
its a gorgeous tapestry of a story with a host of characters, kings Queens beggars and other gods.
the romance is slow burn that is hot when it eventually ignites. out of all of Ruby's books I have read this is the best.

Enjoyable listen
This was a good book and I enjoyed it. It was on course to get five stars, but the pace and story waned a bit later on in the book and I felt less engaged. I’ll still get more by this author and in this series, though.

wow
a slow burn but once it ignites you'll be hanging on every word. I admit I cried at the end of this book and that's not an emotion many books have gotten out of me. happy or sad tears? you'll have to listen to find out 😉

Fantastic full length adventure.
Funny, smart ass humour with adventure, action and some funny sometimes awkward situations they find themselves in. I really enjoyed the journey they went on and the unraveling storyline. One of my favourite narrators doing a wonderful job of making the story that more enjoyable.
