Publisher's summary

Growl

He’d never had something to himself, never even dared to dream about owning something so precious. He was the unwanted bastard son who’d always had to content himself with the leftovers of others. And now, they’d given him what only a few weeks ago had been out of his reach, someone he wasn’t even allowed to admire from afar and one of their most prized possessions. Thrown at his feet because he was who he was, because they were certain he would break her. He was her punishment - a fate worse than death, a way to deliver the ultimate punishment to her father who had displeased them so greatly.

Cara

She had always been the good girl. It didn’t protect her.

She didn’t know his real name. People called him Growl to his face, and the Bastard behind his back. Both were names he couldn’t possibly have chosen for himself. His eyes were empty, a mirror to throw back her own fear at her. He was a brutal hand of the Las Vegas Camorra.

And now, she was at his mercy.

Beauty and The Beast

I read this book twice before writing this review. Because the first time around I felt like it was random. And I still don't know how I honestly feel about it. There was no build up to these characters in the other books, so I wasn't sure how I would connect to them. And I read this book slower than the others. But I definitely have a soft spot for Growl and Cara. Their love story was the most dramatic of the previous books. And at first I labeled this Stockholm syndrome. But I feel Cara had feelings for Growl during their first encounter at the Thanksgiving party, and dare I saw so did Growl. And who doesn't love a man who fawns over his dogs. That's certainly what made me change my mind about Growl.

Beauty and the Beast comes to mind while reading. A man in desperately in need of love, and a girl with love to give. My heart ached for both of them, and this book is a hidden gem for sure. Growl needed love, Cara needed freedom. They fulfilled each other's needs. And I loved every minute of it.

Growl n Cara

it has been a few years since I read this book, and I like the book when I read it and now to see it come alive in words so I can picture it in my mind was a icing on a cake for me. I really enjoy it.

This is one of my favorites! Great story. I kinda had an idea of what was going to happen with the family in the end but wow!, It was so much more! Loved it!

Cara and Growl

This book was different than the others in the series because it is mostly about the Camorra mafia in Vegas. It was good but not as good as the other books. We find out what the relationship is to the New York mafia. Growl showed no emotion. Everyone was afraid of him because he was the scarred Camorra hitman. Cara was given to him by Falcone because her father betrayed the mafia. Cara acted more innocent than she was, especially the way she used Growl to get her family back-smart young woman. Everyone turned their backs on her when she was given to him. We also learn Growl's real name. Tor Thom and Desiree Ketchum did a great job with the narration.

Only HE was bound by vengeance she was a user…

Bound by vengeance I suppose, cara was out for herself… he was bound…

This is a rant that will contain spoilers…

Cara was frustrating… she wants to befriend him but she’s also running? 🙄

I didn’t like how she thought growl didn’t understand human relationships when she was the one who really didn’t understand. How did she think in their world someone will help and go behind falcone? 🙄
Did she want Kaschimo or not? She wanted the life but she lied to herself and no matter what he growl did she was “surprised.”

Cara is manipulative… she used the fact that he started to like her to her advantage… She stormed to “help” the neighbor knowing Growl was there… she thought she was perfect and anything Growl did was atoning for his sins 🙄 Shes needy and demanding and a user…. She had a “plan” but wanted him to lover her… talk about spoiled brat… all she does is complain and wants to live in a rich place… ugh I did NOT like her at all. She loved her home? That was her father’s home who got it from criminal works… but she conveniently forgot that…of course…
I wish she was normal despite her fake her upbringing… she was too too fake…Growl wasn’t human? Give me a break….🤬 she fits in expensive places but he doesn’t? I almost laughed… they’re both from a criminal background…

I wish she was like Valentina in book 2 she was my favorite until the end… she’s the only one who I could believe somehow came from this world… or even Lilliana in book 4?

She’s just so stupid and her back and forth was a bit too much! She’s using him until they got out…. She wouldn’t stay with him but yet she felt like she loved him? Which is it????? Poor Growl… but then I felt maybe he deserved it… trying to be with someone that shallow… all she cared about is what people thought and would marry a man to have a place in society… she’s exactly like Anastasia the only exception was she was shunned from society…Chapter 24 in and I’m struggling if I should go on…
