Christian Book Award - Finalist 2021!!

A rich portrayal of living faithfully and happily as a Christian with same-sex attraction that paints a compelling picture of discipleship for every believer.

In this powerful and personal book, author Rachel Gilson describes her own unexpected journey of coming out and coming to faith... and what came next. As she does so, she addresses many of the questions that Christians living with same-sex attraction are wrestling with: Am I consigned to a life of loneliness? How do I navigate my friendships? Will my desires ever change? Is there some greater purpose to all this?

Drawing on insights from the Bible and the experiences of others, Born Again This Way provides assurance and encouragement for Christians with same-sex attraction, and paints a compelling picture of discipleship for every believer.

Whatever your sexuality, this book is an inspiring testimony of how a life submitted to Jesus will be fulfilling and fruitful, but not always in the ways we might expect.

Great discussion on needed topic.

Rachel sheds light on a dim topic in the church. Jesus is light to a dark world so looking at these issues is a good way to see and think about what the Bible has to say about same sex attraction, singleness, and identity. Great window into this world. May Christian’s bravely wrestle with these issues. It may help many more than this small group of same sex people. Thank you Rachel.

A Great Story with Spiritual Guidance included

Gilson’s story and description of her growth as a Christian, as well as specific issues regarding same sex attraction and Christianity, are priceless. This is a very sensitive, heartfelt treatment of navigating homosexuality as a Christian in our world. Whether you are looking for help or simply understanding of this issue, this book is a great resource. Thank you so much, Rachel!

A thoughtful and compelling journey

This author has lived a life that encouraged questions. She's been willing to seek truth, whether or not it supported her previous assumptions. The daily questions are easily expanded into our lives in many different areas. Thank you.

Breaking the Shame of Sexuality

This book gave me a glimpse of the struggle of Christians coming from a life that fully embraced same sex attraction. The author thoroughly addresses the challenges without denying the sin.

Beautifully written, performed and executed. I recommend this book to pastors, ministers and all Christians, no matter their sexual proclivities.

People need to read this book!

Rachel Gilson puts the confusing issue of same-sex attraction (SSA) into perspective for Christians who want to help people struggling with this temptation. Gilson is both compassionate and realistic as she gently corrects the Church's false expectations and helps believers to see that SSA is similar to other forms of temptation in that it often never stops being a struggle until we're in glory. She also makes the reader aware of how "costly" a commitment to Christ is for those leaving the LBGT lifestyle, and that for someone sacrificing nearly everything for Christ, an hour a week in church does not come close to meeting the need for fellowship and support. The Church is also gently chastised for often making marriage an idol of sorts, and enlightened (or reminded) about the unique roles of singles as equally valuable in the Body of Christ. I wish everyone who identifies as a Christ-follower could read this book.

A Wonderful Find

I have run the gamut of authors who write about sex-same attraction as it relates to the Christian faith. Rachel Gilson is the first author I have found who has shared the struggles of being caught up in an active sexual sin cycle after coming to faith in Christ. There are plenty of other wonderful things about this book, but the solidarity I found when listening to a fellow believer share her difficult and shameful moments while trying to learn how to live faithfully in light of the surpassing grace of God is the thing that struck me the most upon this first reading. I will definitely be recommending this to some of my friends who face similar hardships.

Excellent book. Very informative.

I heard about this book listening to Rachel talks with Sean McDowell. While I am not same sex attracted, I do have family members who are. This book gave me insight and much needed perspective on what has been a difficult topic to discuss. I needed to hear this for sure!

Must read for Christian in our current culture.

Such a biblically sound approach to a life of same sex attraction. Spirit led and spirit filled. Highly recommend reading to help understand other fellow followers of Christ and their specific journeys.
