Religion's decline in the modern world turns out to be a myth.

Christianity is the most widespread global belief system and promises to remain so well into the future. But for many educated Westerners, biblical Christianity is a dangerous idea - challenging some of their deepest beliefs.

Channeling state-of-the-art research, personal stories, and careful biblical study, Confronting Christianity explores 12 questions that keep many of us from considering faith in Christ. Look more closely, McLaughlin argues, and the reality of suffering, the complexity of sexuality, the desire for diversity, the success of science, and other seeming roadblocks to faith become signposts. Jesus becomes not a relic from the ancient world but our modern world's best hope.

I loved the thoughtful research this author includes to defend this faith. What a wonderful summary of what it means to follow Jesus Christ. I am sending this book to so many friends. Thank you, Rebecca. You’re amazing.

Great teaching on hard topics

Beautifully written! Poigniant testimony of a real believer. Full of the beauty of the person of Christ. Full of real struggles with sin nature and the pain that comes with being a sojourner in this world that is not our true home.
I loved it, I will reccommend this to friends, and probably listen again.

God Glorifying!

Each chapter of the book could itself be an entire three-volume, scholarly work. This fact alone makes the story feel thin in different places, most especially in the later chapters dealing with hell and suffering. Nevertheless, this is an excellent text for Christians who feel intimidated by the secular, modern movements of Western society. Rebecca does an outstanding job of touching so many topics with a deft hand. I'd recommend this to any Christian struggling to articulate the power of Jesus Christ in an increasingly disembodied and pluralistic world.
