great book!

this was really good I just wished audible had the whole series. Great plot and the narrator did a great job, she's one of my favorites.

The upbeat sentiment throughout the book.

The book itself was entertaining but the reader/ narrator just made it pop! Good Read. Loved It.

Loved it

I loved the duality of the two mysteries. I also love the incorporation of the animals and culinary nod.

Muddled

The characters are caricatures and the writing is muddled, especially the historical parts. The narrator doesn’t do the book any favors.

Current Mystery Was Ok. Historical Mystery - No

I thought this was better than the first book. I got this audio book on sale.

I liked Frank. I liked Nana Jo. I liked the ladies from the Shady Acres Retirement Village. I thought Sam's sister was a bit harsh at first, but then seeing how ridiculously Sam behaved, I understood Janna's feelings. I also remembered why I stopped reading this series after the first book.

I find the story within the story to be really irritating. I don't care about Sam's historical mystery that she was writing. I was focused on the current mystery and felt like continually going back to "Sam's novel" disrupted the flow.

The current mystery in this book was decent, but the historical mystery only served to lessen my enjoyment.

Predictable tropes, characters...nothing new

Didn't make it past 30 mins. Boring, stereotypical characters: imposing school marm, a Karen, man with a hidden past, mousey female small business owner that somehows manages runs a successful business.
The narrator was okay, but kept changing in and out of character to another character in mid sentence.

Not a keeper.
