Publisher's Summary

He’s too hot for words.

Mia:

Alex Lawson might as well be the hottest book boyfriend imaginable. A fun, romantic, possessive, pantie-melting man. And the best part? He’s real. For a girl like me - a slightly awkward book addict - Alex is a dream come true, straight off the pages of my favorite romance novels.

But our story is turning into a whirlwind romance - the kind that only exists in books. Are we heading toward our own happily ever after? Or is he too good to be true?

Alex:

Here’s the thing: I’m not a bad guy. Lying to Mia wasn’t part of the plan. Finding success as a romance author using a female pen name wasn’t part of the plan, either. But sometimes, life takes unexpected turns.

Like realizing the woman you’re falling for is your alter ego’s online best friend.

Online, she thinks I’m a woman named Lexi. In person, she knows I’m all man. I want to worship her body and claim every inch of her. But if she discovers my secret, I could lose everything.

Book Boyfriend is a stand-alone romance with a guaranteed-to-make-you-swoon HEA. It contains mature language and content and is intended for a mature audience. Fair warning, ladies - Alex will melt your panties off, so have an extra pair on hand before you buy.

A Real Life Book Boyfriend

This was such a cute and sweet romcom! I loved the premise and idea behind the story and it was a great twist to the traditional romantic comedy. This story within a story hooked me from the start and I loved seeing how everything began and unfolded between Alex and Mia. Yes, mistakes are made along the way, but given the history of our characters, it made sense (even if readers/listeners may disagree). Do I wish Alex came clean earlier? Of course, but I also understand why he didn't. The ebook actually includes a very insightful author's note about this, and I wish it would have also been included in the audio version. I also would have preferred that Mia not have been *quite* as clumsy and insecure, since it felt too over the top for me at times. The epilogue could not have been more perfect though and it contained my favorite passage from the entire book (comparing the h to the best book ever written? *swoon*) Another thing I really enjoyed, were the romance reader culture references the author threw into the story. It was such a fun nod to romance readers everywhere.

Both Stephen Dexter and Maxine Mitchell did a fantastic job narrating Alex and Mia. Their performances were lighthearted during the funnier and sillier moments, but also emotional when needed. Stephen Dexter especially was fantastic, voicing both male and female characters wonderfully and his umm... enthusiasm during the steamier scenes left me fanning myself! ;) I did feel Maxine Mitchell sometimes sounded a little too serious as quirky and clumsy Mia, but overall, both narrators did a fantastic job bringing this story to life. This was my first book by Claire Kingsley, but it certainly won't be my last! I'm excited to continue on with the series and start Kendra's story next!

LIGHT AND SWEET ROMANCE

This story was sweet and easy to listen to.

It starts with the main snafu happening right off the bat, then it goes back in time to tell the tale.

The story flows nicely, then it gets to where everything started- the conflict when everything unravels.

Loved the resolution to the conflict, and the story closes with a great epilogue.

The narration was pleasing, and I would recommend this audiobook.

I guess I am in the minority . .

I did not really care for this book nor the narrators (especially the male narrator). I will start with the story. Ok, so they meet, click, and then one of them realizes that they know each other online under different names. I guess the problem I have with this whole concept is that Mia felt like Lexi was her BFF and told her all kinds of things. But in this day and age, shouldn't we all be a little more careful about what we tell total strangers online. I mean, I get that she thought she was talking to a woman and the author of her favorite books; but come on.... can you ever be totally sure who you are talking to? I mean, for all she knew, she had been corresponding with the person who answered the authors e-mail for her, etc. Assuming that you KNOW exactly who you are communicating with online is just STUPID. And then she gets all huff and self-righteous because he did not tell her - even though #1 - he did try, but got interrupted, #2 - once he knew who she was, he had kept their convos minimal, and #3 - he never sought her out. In fact, it seemed from the story that Lexi was never the one who initiated the convos with Mia - I always felt like Mia was pushing a friendship with Lexi just cause she liked the idea that she was "such close friends" with her favorite author.
Now for the male narrator - his voice got on my nerves, especially when he was doing the female voice. And lets not even talk about him doing the female voice during sex scenes. He sounded like he was trying to emulate a porn star. And he spoke so fast - as if he wanted us to feel how frenzied it was - but it just came across as weird.

Ok

I LOVE Claire’s books. This one though? It was a 5 until the end. It fell flat for me. The ending was just meh.

Loved, Loved, Loved

Considering I read & listen to a lot of books (much like the main female character), this book made me laugh & also relate. It was funny, sexy & a little quirky. Book 1 made Book 2 a must read for me!!

Loving story. 😊😊

I read this series out of order so by the time I read this book one I knew the other characters. My favorite was book 2 with Teddy H. but book 3 with Savannah was good too. Overall, this was an entertaining series and feel good stories and each HEA was a good listen. 😁

Book Boyfriend

Audio: Both Maxine Mitchell and Stephen Dexter are favorite performers. They did an amazing job with this narration. Giving the characters more personality and attitude. Loved it!

Story: I absolutely love the set up for this book. Alex takes a dive into writing career as a Romance Author under a woman's pen name. What could go wrong? Mia has her own book blog site, under a fake name. Let the dominoes start to fall. I love their chance meeting, and how Mia is so quirky. I could list a ton of things I loved about the characters an book, but I would run out of space. Amazing all the way around.

Stephen Dexter + Claire Kingsley is a great combo!

I love Stephen Dexter as a narrator. I've been a big fan of his for few years, and he always does a great job bringing emotion, heart and humor to every book that he narrates. The combination of his narration and Claire Kingsley's writing results in an Alex that is simply amazing. He is emotional, he has passion, humor, heart, and he's such a fun character to listen to. Maxine Mitchell also does a great job bringing Mia's awkwardness to life, and capturing her spirit.

This is a book filled with humor and witty banter, amazing characters, and a well-developed plot. You really get invested in the storyline, and you are just waiting for Alex's secret to be revealed. You feel all of his anxiety and worry about it, how much he loves Mia, and how perfect their pairing is.

A great book with amazing narration, sure to please rom com fans.

The best

I truly enjoyed this novel. Narration is the best both Stephen and maxine wrapped me up into the story. I liked the authors idea of how the story is constructed and thinking outside the box. Otherwise not your usual romance..Thank you!!

A Real Book Boyfriend

Mia and Alex meet in a bookstore when she drops her books. He's enamored with her and offers to buy her books. Alex is a romance author writing with a female pen name and no one knows but his sister. Mia has an office job and does a book review blog on the side under an alias. Neither of them realizes that they know each other from online where Alex has a page online for his/her fans. Mia has connected with her and tells her about her new date. As Mia tells Alex/Lexi about things that happened, Alex realizes that his "BB" book blogger is Mia. He wants to tell her the truth but things keep interrupting them. I like how this story moves along and doesn't drag. I really liked Stephen Dexter and Maxine Mitchell's narrations.
