Rereading the older books

Where does Blow Fly rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Blow Fly is excellent just as the previous Scarpetta books have been.

What other book might you compare Blow Fly to and why?

Can't compare it to any other book outside of Patricia Corwell's Scarpetta collection.

What does Kate Reading bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings the characters to life and gives them personality. It allows you to form connections to the characters. I don't listen to the Scarpetta series if Kate Reading is not the reader. I will read the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely.

Any additional comments?

The previous Scarpetta series that were not read by Kate Reading should be redone with her narrating.

Anticlimactic

I was waiting for the story to reach its peak. But it ended before it got really interesting. I will try another title sometime.

Superb !!

I am hooked on Patricia Cornwell !! Great book. I love Kay Scarpetta and Marino. Those two make a great team. I look forward to the next novel. I Sure hope it's as good as this one.

BigDaddyBooth

The reading and the story were great.
The problem I have with this recording is there are at least 4, 10 second overlays where they were edited together. One of the worst editing jobs I've heard from audible.

Disjointed and less believable

My first reaction to this narrative was to wonder if Patricia Cornwell had really written it. The last one had been mostly in the first person and wrapped up in personal analysis and emotional exploration. Blow Fly was all third person and in very short chapters. The shifts in point of view were abrupt and jarring.

The narration was good and the story was gripping, but I was left wondering about a few of the new characters. This novel wrapped up a lot of the loose ends from some of the previous story arcs. In the process, however, a lot of established personalities warped out of recognition.

I hope the next one is less jarring.

So long and drawn out.

I haven’t read the Scarletta series in awhile so I was a little lost almost immediately; I imagine anyone who has never read the series would be completely lost. The book was long, often boring, and all over the map. Odd to me so many people liked it given how patchy it was. It starts out going one way, with a new character, but just as soon as that character development begins she is completely forgotten about and all these other back stories take precedent. Probably one of the worst books I’ve listened to all year. Narrator was good though, I’ll give it that much.

what the.....

overall it was good... but it left so many what the and hows.... how did Benton do that, what happened in there etc. not sure if Patricia ran out of paper or what but felt like a good chunk of the story was missing as it ended...

One of her best

I liked it. I must somehow have missed it along the way in the series.
