Story
Joe takes his first step into exile, and is promptly unable to breathe. This new Zone has a higher concentration of power, magnitudes denser. His first task is to survive, but mere survival is the least of his concerns. The Zone he has landed on has been in a state of constant war for thousands of years, a tug of war between the Elven and Dwarven societies. Not choosing a side is the same as declaring both to be your personal enemy. Though he is resistant, Joe reluctantly decides to go with the group he thinks will help him grow the most.

It's a good thing, too, for the war in Ter’nodril, which he’d hoped would spell the beginning of the end for the DIR, instead left him corrupted, body and soul. The good news is that the Fallen used the Blight that now fills his veins as a weapon in their war against the gods themselves. An effort in frustration.
Beware Spoilers.
Not even Travis could salvage this book even though he made a valiant effort. For most of the book we have Lindon and the gang trying to help evacuate Sacred Valley. Mostly though this involves the extreme frustration of seeing the gang trying to humblebeg prideful petty tyrants to see reason, then getting repeatedly stabbed in the back for the effort while not fighting back or doing so nonlethally.
The hamfisted moralizing in the face of a local apocalypse is honestly insulting. Who really thinks killing some backstabbing murderous idiots firmly in the way of saving thousands is so bad they might regret it for the rest of their lives? In this world? It's not like they are some reborn teen idiots from earth or anything either... But no, because the opponents are only Jades that would stain their own honor too much somehow, as if evil is related to cultivation level somehow. Sure give them a chance, a second chance even but don't let them try to kill/torture you, everyone you care for and doom all innocents without even raising your damn voice. Every time they adressed these morons with "Honored Elder" I seriously wanted to reach across spacetime as slap some damn sense into them.
Then we have the escalation of conflict. I guess we can extrapolate that Lindon will probably be that last molecule of matter in the multiverse that makes the scales land on the right side somehow, but at this moment it really feels like his ability to contribute against the real threats is so miniscule as to be irrelevant to anyone tbh.
The last third of the book was decent at least but it can't carry the early parts of pure frustrating idiocy nor make up for the lack of satisfaction overall. This book ends up just setting up for future books and being an effort in frustration.

Like watching LeBron go 1-on-1 with a 3 yr old
This book is chock full of what I like to call "manufactured drama"
By that I mean, realistically the situation should present no mystery/problem whatsoever ...but in order to try make the story interesting the author introduces some completely unrealistic condition to "spice things up"
Will is the GOAT, and I am a fan ...but this book is disappointing
It's at least 60% filler ...It becomes less fluffy towards the end, but on a whole nothing that important really happens in this book
U cud def skip this one without missing anything

As with all books in this series Will Wight did an absolutely stellar job writing this one. I don’t even have to say anything about the narrator, Travis Baldree is my all time favorite and as usual killed it. Overall 5 stars all around, my only complaint(because it’s so good) is I wish the audiobook was longer!! XD

The great next chapter in a great story - buy it
There seem to be a lot of reviews taking issue with the story that I don't understand. I think people get fixated on the "end" rather than the journey, and you miss out on enjoying the journey.
One of the things I love most about these books is they feel like one continuous story. They happen to be broken into books but they feel more like chapters to me. In this chapter, we learn more about the characters we love, their struggles, their personalities, their advancement. It's everything I've come to love from this story.
Sometimes the chapters (books) wrap more story arcs than others and seed more or less new ones. That's just the way writing is going. This book didn't wrap the sheer volume of things that came together in the last book, but that doesn't make it any less satisfying or enjoyable.
If you're looking for a grand resolution, not the book for you. If you're interested in another turn with all the characters you love from Cradle, you're going to love this book.
I'm glad Will can keep a steady pace, I'll preorder the next as soon as it's ready.

It's OK. How short or long it too short or long?
I'm conflicted after listening to this book. I like the series overall, but man I wish there was more of a point. The series needs more of a The adventures of title than anything. As long as this series took to get here, I hope it doesn't drag out or just suddenly end.
It's good but after waiting a bit too long for the new titles to come out, I can't help but lose interest over time. I can say that I was more vested in the first few books than I am now.
For this book, the middle dragged too much and was fluffed out pretty bad. I would have rather not have had an overly dragged out evacuation effort ( I was not a fan of the 1/2 a book to try to evacuate a bunch of low level jades even though I have a gold army ) and focused more on the family aspect and helping them and the last fight or leveling up. I can think of many other ways the book could have helped move the story without the fluff it had.
I did enjoy the battles, action and family time the book did have. The last battle was pretty good. I enjoyed what may come with the ending provided and will follow the series. I hope to see Lindon power up and move past the Cradle soon as all hell seems to be unleashed there already and it needs to end and start season 2.

The story advances...
...and in what a way! An excellent installment to an already 5 star series.
Somehow, Will Wight manages to surpass himself with every new book. The story is captivating from the get go and doesn't let up until the very end! There are many characters to follow in this book and while Lindon is still the main character I felt like we got enough "screen time" with the members of the main team considering the length of the book and the amount of action.
Audio performance is excellent as always but to say that the editing is lacking is an understatement. I don't know why did the editor decide to add dead space between words in the middle(!!!) of a sentence but it completely threw the timing off.
Fantastic book all-in-all and I'm sure I will listen to it many more times!

Another Excellent addition.
A superb instalment of an exceptional series. Travis Baldtree's delivery is also outstanding. This book is one of the easiest recommendations I'll ever make and I can't wait for the next one!

very disappointed!
Decent story development and interesting power progression. Good narration. However... heavily let down by the weak character development left a child returned years later... as a child.

good book bad performance
I think Travis was great in the previous books but for some reason for about half of this book he pauses in random places in sentences which is really frustrating and took me out of the book.

Amazing
Oh man, so much happens in this one. It's so great, you need to read it.
Still trying to figure out the connection between Lindon and the title for this one.

not as climatic as I was hoping
As the ninth book in the series and with it being set up as the foal up until now the pivot to a bigger stage was slow and yet rushed.
There were some great moments sprinkled throughout. Will's talent for storytelling and the first and last third more than make up for a slow middle. if your a fan of cradle this is a good read but its alot slower than wintersteel.
Travis delivers a great performance as always and this feels like we won't understand what happened until all the peices have finished being placed 4/5 not his best but I'm looking forward to the future.

Bloodline is Mutili-Character focused book.
The bloodline has a very focused plotline that it sticks to but in the point of view of a lot of different character, which is nice as it adds a different flavour to the series. Will has diverted a lot from Lindon, and in his struggle to advance his sacred arts, the intense fights have become mundane. It seems that Will Wright has cut down on his focus on Lindon to have a shorter and quicker book. The thing is, Lindon is the Cradle series core character, and it feels that Will is slowly giving up on Lindon`s character development.

Once again, they knock it out of the park
The patience that Will Wight has as a writer is unbelievable. He waited 9 books to pay off the very first book and he did an exemplary job.
While Wintersteel was an exciting climax to the progression of the characters from foundation to lord, Bloodline felt more like a satisfying pay off to some of the earliest plot points in the series.
It’s a must read, no doubt. Just know that this book is tying up the story so far and setting up the future progression of the story. When you get to the end, you’re going to immediately want to read the next book.
