She held her breath, her arms shaking, and it felt as though her heart was going to explode out of her chest. Go away, she thought. You're done. You've killed me - now leave.

Tainted water. Dead bodies. Blood silence.

Two people are coldly executed behind a bar in Washington DC. A high-powered lawyer and his beautiful client are brutally slaughtered in a lake house in a suburb west of Minneapolis. Two cases separated by 1,000 miles and connected by one man - Mac McRyan. In a tale of money and blood that hits a little too close to home, Mac is forced to confront his tumultuous past. Blood Silence is a web of unsettling twists, startling turns, and unforeseen redemption with each chapter adding a layer of intrigue that will pull you in further.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mack has to be the favorite since he is the main character of the storyline.

Which scene was your favorite?

The highway shootout has to be my favorite. I could imagine the intensity and realistic approach taken by the author.

Any additional comments?

Blood Silence is a good listen. The author keeps you guessing and paints a picture that is easily visualized. Johnny Peppers does a good job keeping the conversations easy to follow and characterizations make it easy to identify each person speaking.

Enjoyed the narration and the story line.

Any additional comments?

Excellent mystery by Roger Stelljes. I've enjoyed the other books in the "Mac" McRyan series but I think this one is by far his best. The book begins with McRyan's ex-wife's husband having an affair and her planning a divorce. He is then found murdered and she is logically the top suspect. McRyan reluctantly gets involved with the urging of his fiancé. Meanwhile other people are being killed throughout the country, these seem unconnected and isolated in their different regions of the states until Mac begins putting the pieces together. Then the hunt begins - Mac for them and them (the bad guys) for him.
With out spoiling anything, the conclusion comes from way out in left field. You can't and won't see it coming and you can not guess it early on in the book BUT it fits perfectly and absolutely believable. By the end everything is wrapped up with promise for another book forming.

Johnny Peppers narrates this one as well as all the others in this series. His performance was excellent as always.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Best McRyan book so far...

I have previously written very positive reviews of all prior books in the McRyan detective series. In Blood Silence Mac McRyan is encouraged by his fiance who is on the US president's staff to go back home to Minnesota to help clear Mac's ex-wife of the brutal double murder of her cheating husband and her husband's lover.

This is a complex novel that includes almost a dozen murders spread around Minnesota, North Dakota and Texas. McRyan's life is in near constant danger as he uses his detective skills to work toward a conclusion of the case(s). Johnny Peppers does his usual fine job of narration.

I recommend this book and the entire series to those who like detective mysteries.

I have been anticipating this book and I was not disappointed. It was a very good story showing the complexity of human lives and our choices. You learn more about McRyan and his past. The story moves away from D.C., but doesn't stay in Minnesota. The story has a bit of an environmental storyline to create more mystery.

It was a well-written story with many twists and turns. The narration by Johnny Peppers is spot on and gives voice to the characters.

Another Great Book by Stelljes, Peppers

Having read all of the McRyan books, I found this one to have the best character development on multiple levels. The story developed on murder and greed centered in the North Dakota oil fields was in itself a story within a story. Greed and effect on people along with all the EPA issues. The characters also developed on an emotional level that we would hope for in a multiple book series. Johnny Pepper is outstanding.

Developed characters on more than one level
