A ruthless fire vampire. An unsuspecting human. A bargain that will cost them everything.
Tatyana Vorona has no idea that she just made a deal with a vampire. When the naïve human bookkeeper offers to help locate embezzled funds for a wealthy CEO, she doesn’t realize she’s being set up as bait.
Oleg Sokolov is a fire vampire as ancient as he is vicious. It’s bad enough that his daughter stole money from him, but now she’s sought refuge with one of his bitter rivals. He wants her back under his control, and he doesn’t mind using Tatyana to draw her out.
But as Oleg spends more time with Tatyana, he begins to want her for more than just revenge. When Tatyana is attacked, Oleg is forced to reveal his true nature to save her. Can he convince her to stay in his bloody world when he’s the reason she’s in danger?
Dark and compelling, BLOOD MOSAIC is the first in a new series from USA Today Bestselling Author Elizabeth Hunter, set in her popular Elemental universe.

As a longtime fan of Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental Vampires universe, I’ve been hoping for years to see Oleg and Tatiana’s story told. I dreamed we might get a book—never did I expect an entire series! Blood Mosaic is a fantastic beginning to what promises to be one of the most emotionally rich and tension-filled series in the Elemental world.
This first installment is layered with history, heartbreak, and hidden truths. Tatiana, newly turned against her will by Oleg’s daughter, is raw and reeling. Still adjusting to her new life as a vampire, she finds herself caught between Oleg’s intense protection and her own desperate need for independence. Oleg has claimed her—publicly stating she is his—but Tatiana refuses to bow, even as she’s drawn to him. She sees his control and care as a kind of cage, and her grandmother’s words echo in her mind: love should never be a cage.
And while Oleg’s feelings clearly run deep, he’s yet to name them. He’s never said the word *love*. Instead, he exerts control in other ways—subtle, powerful, and secretive. He’s begun a blood bond by taking her blood multiple times, knowing full well what that means in vampire culture. But Tatiana doesn’t—he hasn’t told her. Naïve to the rules and rituals of the vampire world, she’s vulnerable in ways she hasn’t yet realized. And still, she walks away from him, craving the freedom to become who she is on her own terms.
This book does a beautiful job filling in untold history within the Elemental universe while setting the stage for what’s to come. Tatiana’s internal struggle, her raw strength, and her refusal to be owned make her one of the most compelling characters Hunter has ever written. Oleg remains enigmatic—commanding and emotionally restrained—but there are cracks forming, and I’m eager to see what comes next.
As for the audiobook, I’m giving the performance 4 stars. Sean William Doyle is excellent—his portrayal of Oleg is commanding and emotionally grounded. He captures the weight of the character’s past and the complexity of his choices. The female narrator, while technically skilled, didn’t resonate with me in the same way. Her tone stayed mostly in one emotional register—primarily sadness—and lacked the emotional variety that Tatiana’s journey calls for. It didn’t ruin the experience, but it did flatten a few moments that could have been more dynamic.
All in all, this was worth the wait—and then some. The emotional tension, the slow burn, the secrets, and the stakes are everything I’d hoped for. I’m fully invested in Tatiana’s fight for freedom and Oleg’s reluctant unraveling. Bring on book two!
A powerful start to a long-awaited series

Anyway, he is an ancient fire vampire, so powerful that he is the lord of a huge territory. The story begins as we discover that one of his vampire children - a daughter, Zara - has been behaving badly. She has been embezzling from his companies and doing things to harm his reputation and it is his responsibility to take care of the situation.
We then meet FMC Tatyana Vorona. She is a human. A bookkeeper who worked for Zara and unknowingly helped her to do the actual stealing. Fortunately, or unfortunately, Zara did not pay Tatyana for the last 6 months of work and she is desperate for her pay. Her mother needs care and she needs the money. Tatyana does not know anything about the immortal world, but she does dig and discover the fact that Zara's company is a subsidiary of SMO - a shipping company owned by Oleg. She goes there to try to get her money.
And so it begins......
Oleg is immediately attracted to Tatyana but she is hesistant and extremely intimidated by him. She enteres into an agreement to try to get the money back for Oleg for a percentage of what she recovers. Oleg decides to use the fact that Tatyana is now working for him as bait to try to get Zara out in the open.
We also begin to realize that Zara is bats**t crazy so things go downhill from there.
I liked Oleg and for the most part liked Tatyana but didn't really like the back and forth from her regarding their relationship. Yes, Oleg is controlling, but he is an ANCIENT vampire and a bit set in his ways. I know, I know, I'm making excuses for him....but I liked him :)
I listened to this on audio and it was interesting with all of the Russian, Ukranian and other accents that the narrators had to do. We will have to see where things go in book 2.
Back in the Elemental World!
