Publisher's Summary

It was supposed to be business. Two families, one wedding, zero emotion.

My father’s mafia outfit had saved my life. I owed them everything. An arranged marriage was hardly a sacrifice when I would have already been long-dead, had it not been for them.

I would give up my independence for the Lucciano family. I would bind myself to the man whose family tore my life to pieces.

Matteo De Luca was vicious claws sheathed in refinement and class. He saw my untamed independence as a challenge. I saw his alluring authority as a threat. There was a ruthless storm that raged in his oceanic gaze. A majestic tidal wave of temper and domination looking to break on my rocky shores.

He would annihilate me. Rip open my layers until all my pretty secrets were scattered at his feet.

The worst part? I wanted to experience whatever it was Matteo had to offer, and I hated myself for it.

I wanted to launch myself at him. To kiss him. To kill him. To end the debilitating torture of the unknown.

The moment our paths collided, our lives were altered irrevocably. Taking us from enemies allied by a strategic marriage to something dark and consuming. Something that tasted like obsession.

Blood Always is book three in The Five Families series but can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Warning: There is a very small trigger warning on this one. If you are a highly sensitive listener, this one might not be for you.

O.M.G.THE CHEMISTRY WAS OFF.. THE.. CHARTS

Maria and Matteo’s story is my favorite of the three books in this series because the sexual chemistry in this arranged Mafia marriage oozed from every single feisty meeting, every scorched encounter and every smouldering touch.. and I loved every delicious scene because they’d both met their match. But Maria’s walls weren’t just up.. they were waaay up reinforced blocks of ice making a formidable impenetrable fortresses around her emotions with guard dogs, search lights and dark ghosts of her past guarding every ice cold block - protecting what she’d buried deep. However, Matteo, the sexy possessive alpha Underboss, wanted the fiery, wickedly deadly and dangerously tempting woman who was his new wife. So he played a game to win her.. but he had to tread very carefully because one wrong step in the world they were both center in could be deadly. And, over time and many heated exchanges, their chemistry and Matteo’s unwavering support, guidance, loyalty and understanding, did the impossible.. it slowly cracked and melted Maria’s walls - releasing the poisonous truth. It also allowed a little girl to grieve for the innocence she lost, it rejuvenated her joy for life, it united a family once again, it restored possibilities and it cleared a path for love. It also revealed a monster who’d been hidden in plain sight.. a monster who was already being hunted by both families.. a monster who was going to deserve the bloody end he got. It was meant to be a marriage not born from love but rather an alliance uniting two Mafia families.. but thankfully it didn’t stay that way. This author’s intense fireworks, flare-ups, secrets, shocks, revelations, character growth, thrills, chills, sexy times and joyful occasions were balanced, well-paced and well-written. And slowly she leads you through a rocky highly-charged start and a rumbling rocky middle to a romantic 5 star HEA ending. The characters were complex, the romance had all the feels, the push n pull relationship was absolutely delicious and the suspenseful story surrounding them was full of drama. The dual POV narration by Jason and Jo was of course perfect (.. love you Jason) and these two talented narrators injected the magic that brought the story, its copious feels and its characters complex personalities to life making it a joy to listen to. Worth a credit? Yes, it ticked every single box.. and it’s left me craving more Ms Ramsower - so next please ;)

I'm obsessed with this mafia world!

An age gap, arranged marriage, mafia romance that had me beaming like no other. Its a seductive, gritty story that satisfies so completely. Matteo is no saint, he's done some bad things and doesn't apologize for it. Maria is not your average mafia princess, she's right there in it with the boys and loves every second of it. These two together clash and make an inferno of licking flames with just one touch. Jason Clarke was the perfect Matteo, his gravely, sensual voice resonates right down to my bones. And Jo Raylan was outstanding bringing Maria to life, her voice is strong and edgy. A perfect collaboration. A one click listen that you'll start and never want to stop! #eargasm #moreplease #oneclickauthor #mafiaromanceatitsbest #obsessed

Loved it!

Jo Raylan is my new favorite woman narrator. I love Jason's voice. Maria is a breath of fresh air from the usual "I take what you give me" female heroine. She is such a bad azz. And I love that Mateo loves her strength and finds it attractive. This one will go into my favorites. So worth it! And it wasn't a slow read!

Holy alpha male and female! Loved this story!

I was so excited to start this book. I love this series. And this book did not disappoint. Holy smokes it was hot. I love a good enemies to lovers story and this is now at the top of my list. Maria and Matteo are from separate mob families. They agree to marry to create an alliance and stop the blood shed. Matteo doesn't have any ill feelings toward Maria. Maria had plenty against Matteo because of the family he works for. She blames them for the death of her brother 10 years before. Now they are in a marriage they need to make work. They struggle with trust and fighting the chemistry they have. Then secrets are exposed and they both find out they might need each other and maybe even have genuine feelings toward each other. Their assumptions just may be totally wrong. Can we talk about hot? I swear I needed a fan throughout this book. Matteo is the ultimate alpha bad boy. And Jason Clarke as his voice was perfect. I already was a major fan of narrations. Maria is a bad ass female. She is totally the perfect female heroine. Jo Raylan has the perfect voice for her. It was strong. It held emotion and I felt like she was really her. All around this is amazing book and throw in the narrations, made it that much better. I can't wait to jump into the next book in this series. This is a must read for mafia romance fans.

Oh My!!!! I Must Have Been Living Under A Rock!!

I don't even know where to begin. First, Jill Ramsower is completely new to me. I am not sure how I have missed here work but this one is only the beginning. Between her, Jo Raylan, and Jason Clarke, I could not stop listening. Second, you know a book is going to be good when your attention is captured in the 1st 10 minutes. I am so looking forward to the others in the series! I was given this audible in exchange for a fair and honest review

I loved it!

This is the third book in The Five Families Series, a great arranged marriage mafia romance. Matteo and Maria's story is captivating! Matteo De Luca is a powerful man, ruthless, mysterious, handsome, and protective. Maria is beautiful, strong, warrior, and sassy. They are perfect together, and they share an undeniable chemistry. The storyline is intricately well written, heart-wrenching, and intriguing, filled with secrets, and twists and turns. Jo Raylan and Jason Clarke did an amazing job with the narration. They are perfect as Maria and Matteo. I enjoyed it. I need more! I highly recommend this Series.

The Perfect Conclusion

The final book in the series and it couldn't have ended any better! I loved Maria and couldn't believe how amazing her story was. Her life has been full of hardships and tribulations which only succeeded in making her stronger! Matteo is all heart when it comes to love and family and it made me weak in the knees to see these two come together and try to learn how to trust and open up. The two families are at odds and the fact that these two have a hard time putting aside their differences and getting along but the fact that they are going to be wed due to the arranged marriage, they don't have a choice but learn to be companionable if nothing else. Maria was tough and unpredictable and I loved how she worked, I loved the way she was even if it took a hard as hell road to get there she still persevered through it all. This book was full of unexpected surprises and the growth that was shown was fantastic! The two narrators that did this story were perfect! I loved how tough and gravely Jo Raylan's voice was, it was perfect for how tough Maria was and you could hear the no nonsense attitude in her voice. And Jason Clarke was the perfect deep voice for Matteo with the hint of love shining through.

Awesome narration

When we (the reader) were introduced to Matteo in the earlier books in the series I had a feeling I was going to love him and now after reading/listening to his story I know I love him. He's a strong and powerful man that has an enormous capacity to love and in return be loved. He thrives on a challenge and Maria is that for him. She's the female version of himself - strong, powerful and extremely protective. The drama that followed the three sisters in the series was tied up in a neat bow in this book - I felt everything was answered so I walked away happy with the conclusion to the book. The narration was perfect both narrators bringing their characters to life.

Married to the Mob

This is book 3, and as good as book 1. A business arrangement between Maria and Matteo, develops into much more. Beautifully narrated, well written, well crafted creating a tantalizing tempestuous tale. Jo Raylan inserts such tension and drama into her character. If you enjoyed this book, you may like Killian by Natasha Knight or Wicked Beautiful by G T Geisinger (the whole series is excellent).

Mafia Romance

Blood Always by Jill Ramsower is a mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Jo Raylan and Jason Clarke. This is the third book in The Five Families Series but each book can be read as a standalone. I absolutely love Jill’s books they grab me from the very beginning and I always have to know how they are going to end. I loved the chemistry between Matteo and Maria. I cannot wait until the forth book in the series Impossible Odds is released on October 21, 2020. Jo and Jason did an amazing job on the narration. They really know how to bring a story to life. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mafia romances.

Jo Raylan is a Queen

I recieved a complimentary copy of this on audiobook from the author and her team. I have read a lot of mafia stories. Therefore I have read a lot of stories about arranged marriages. But it seems like only lately, with this and one other book, that I'm reading stories about made women as well as made men. Usually (granted not always, but a lot of the time) female characters in mafia stories are weak and virginal and spineless. Not so on any front with Maria. She was a BAMF of her own making and I loved her character. Matteo is your typical mafia hero. Alpha and secretive and strong. I really enjoyed how he was always chasing Maria and not the other way around. This is my second Jill Ramsower book and I am already hungry for more.

This book sinks its claws into your heart

What a rollercoaster! If I enjoyed the first book of the series, this one was even better. Sometimes hard because it deals with tough subjects–tougher than the first one–sometimes almost romcom material, but always with deep emotions going through. This book sinks its claws into your heart and you have a tough time getting it out. I really enjoy this author’s writing style. The images are evocative, the words strangely poetic. In the mouth of the narrators–both excellent–they become even stronger. The female narrator gave a sarcastic voice to Maria, who’s a badass woman with deep scars, and the male narrator exuded sexiness and power for Matteo’s voice. The combination of the two was perfect. As for the story, it follows some of the subplots started in the first book–probably continued in book 2–to bring a satisfying conclusion, and to offer more politics of the mafia world. And we get Maria’s story, which is both beautiful and heartwrenching. I wanted to hug her the whole time. And she probably would have killed me. I highly recommend the whole series, and it’s an author I’m gonna follow seriously.

Best book in this series

Jill Ramsower has become an author I love and she did not disappoint with this novel. Blood Always is the 3rd book in The Five Families series and I loved it. This novel included arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, age gap and Mafia romance tropes all into one engrossing story. From the start I was hooked and could not put it down as the story was well-paced and flowed smoothly. The main characters were perfect together, I could not get enough of them and enjoyed their back and forth banter. Matteo and Maria had such chemistry and their every scene together was sizzling and intense. I loved that they were both two strong characters and I enjoyed going on this journey with these two and seeing their relationship blossom. Blood Always was a gritty, emotional page-turner with just the right amount of action, suspense, violence, steam, swoon and some unexpected revelations. So far this is the best book in the series and I would highly recommend it to all mafia-romance lovers. I listened to the audiobook version of this novel which was narrated by Jo Raylan and Jason Clarke. These two were were absolutely the best choices to narrate these characters. They embodied the characters perfectly, adding the right emotions as needed. Their voices were clear and understandable and they brought this story to life. It was a pleasure listening to them narrate this novel.

Mafia perfection!

Book 3 of The Five Families series more than exceeded my expectations. I was so excited for Maria's story. It's not often you get a made woman in your mafia stories and she is one badass queen. Matteo is mob boss perfection. Powerful, demanding, and sexy as sin. Watching them clash and deny their attraction made for one hell of an explosive unification when it finally came. This was my favorite book of the series so far. Everything you need from a dark arranged marriage romance and then some. Narration was excellent. Jason Clarke never disappoints and Jo Raylan really brought Maria to life.
