Publisher's summary

When destiny is involved, there are no chances.

On the night of Graelyn's upcoming birthday, he and his Dawnborn lover, Myra, planned to escape his tyrant father.

However, the night of their departure, a Duskborn assassin comes looking for Gray even as an insatiable, unknown Hunger blooms within him. Attacked and framed, they flee for their lives, only to be captured by orc pirates. They encounter an orcish druid, who has dreamed of a figure shrouded in darkness—a prophecy foretelling the salvation or ruination of the land of Uncanny.

Still tracked by an assassin, can Gray and Myra clear their names, or when Gray’s true heritage is revealed will they be hunted forever?

Great story with great MCS.

I was surprised when I found this book and listened to it. I was expecting a dumb as bricks overpowered male main protagonist. Luckily I was surprised. The male protagonist is likable and is not as overpowered compared to other books I have read. And the female characters are more than just fantasy fodder for the male protagonist. They actually have some depth to them that I hope gets explored more in the upcoming series. So in short I look forward to seeing more of this series.

Thirdborn and his girlfriend have secrets

As required by U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations and Audible requirements, I am disclosing that I was given a free review copy of this audiobook at my request. I have listened to the audiobook, and I have voluntarily left an honest review. Receiving a review copy did not influence my rating nor my review.

“Birthright: Night Kissed, Book 1” was, for me, a new author, and two new Voice Actors. Happily, I can report that I enjoyed the efforts of all three! Whew!! The female narrator in particular was terrific; the male narrator reminded me very much of Tom North, with a pleasant British accent.

I became nervous early on when the story revealed MC Graelyn to be the thirdborn son of a Duke; disdained by his father and his eldest brother, the heir. A different book about a thirdborn son (by a different author) was very disappointing, and was a rare DNF for me, and I feared Birthright might follow the same path.

No - this book is entirely different; the MC is likable and the story takes a very interesting and unexpected turn from the historical western path of a thirdborn son (historically, the eldest son inherited the father’s title, the second son was sent to the Church, and the third son was sent to the military to forge his own story).

The women in Gray’s life, elf Myrena, Duskborn Nystra and Orc Jocelyn, each have different personalities and are very interesting. To say they don’t all immediately like each other would be an understatement! Various descriptions of places throughout the story are very well-done: the ship “Laura’s Envy”, the slave encampment, and the strangely deserted hamlet, for example. Battles and one-on-one fights are also written very well.

I’m happy to have found this new author and narrators, and I hope they team together soon for a sequel to “Birthright”!

Fun but gritty Fantasy romp

This book was a genuine surprise from start to finish. Here we have a fantasy adventure book that seems to have a well-thought-out story. It gets quite graphic when it comes to the fight scenes and still manages to deliver some solid humor. The author manages to round all of this off with genuinely likable and dislikable characters. The narrator's delivery is excellent and draws out the character personalities even more.

A pleasant surprise!!

Wasn’t expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did and thus I am truly pleased with this adventure. Great job, and enjoyed the dual narration as well!! Well done!!

Enjoyable story and performance.

An interesting read that is a mix of adventure and coming into your super powers story. The voice action is good and you can clearly distinguish the characters by the voice acting. The story touches on having too much coincidences but keeps the story moving along. A good listen.

Wonderful harem fantasy adventure.

"You're not my real dad!", would have been another good title. 😜
Fun adventure as the 2 main characters escape death and try to survive as they are looking for help with the male's emerging powers. There are those who wish to see them both dead.
I got this book for free with the expectation of an honest review.
Loved it. Big 5 stars.

Solid start to the story

Very enjoyable read, one that takes its time to build the world and the characters while still maintaining the aspects of the story we all enjoy. The banter between the characters is also good and quite funny sometimes, and their chemistry seem to be decent as well.

I also like the angle of the story and want to see how it's going to develop in regards to his ancestry and plot. Not much to complain, except for some poorly timed conversations that did not seem to fit the moment, and the joining of the assassin felt a bit abrupt.

Narration was also quite good, very pleasing female voices and the main character also sounds enthusiastic and real, not just a robotic reading of the material.
