Hannah is not human, and she's not sure what will happen when she stops pretending otherwise.

Still stuck in a slowly mutating body on Earth and still waking up in a fantasy world whenever she sleeps, Hannah's stress continues to mount every single day. As magic continues to spread to her friends—whether they like it or not—Hannah is forced to confront what that magic means about her and what her terrifying Goddess wants her to do with it.

the usuall possible self projection. but if you can ignore that and just looks at it as a story about the average whiny person with issues that arnt really uncommon these days. aside from every main character being some kind of spectrum. I'd ween off that personally more story less over reaction. most of the story is just hanna babbling to her self about the same thing over and over Nd not expanding the story. but as horrible as character she is at first glance..and she kinda is a bad character.. I had a thought do main characters need to me likeable? can you have a good story with a irritating mc? yes you can. reading a story about a mess of a person like most ppl are on the inside is not bad at all. for example the book empress. the mc is a crazy murdering pos and she is awsome. but if your gonna make superhuman stats make them actually super human. she can run as fast as the current world record holder. she should at least run 50 to 60 mph to match an animal like a cheetah or something since there all half animal/monster. I'm sure a scaled up slider even withought magic would run like 70mph

30 mph is not a super human speed the record is like 27

This series and the Hive Mind book are wonderful. When can we get print versions?

The stories are entertaining, the ideas are clever, the characters are relatable, and most of all, I feel seen. Ms Maher understands nerd brain with such depth and clarity she just has to be one of us.

Clever and thoughtful

I really like bioshifter, it feels like an incredibly personal and well-thought-out take on the fantasy genre, eager to push outside of the normal conventions and to show those things that make it special or deeply personal.
As a "sequel"/second volume, I think it is better than first one, as I feel it explores more the relationships presented and builds on the groundwork stablished at the beggining.

I have some things I don't really like about it tho.
The dialog feels good most of the times, but there are moments where it is super akward.
There are also other things, like the handelling of mental health (which at least for me it's good), but most of the things that were awkward in the first volume are ironed here.
In conclusion, I think that if you went through the first volume and you like it, you should grab this one, it just gets better.

An amazing second volume

This author writes about mental illness/neurodivergence/sexuality through perfectly resonant scifi analogies, and I just love it.

My favorite author complex fun books I didn't think she could make a better book then vigor mortis and I still think vigor mortis was better but not by much.

Love all her books.
