I need to hear the ending! read part one yesterday and part two today ♥️

Part Two is Great!

Although I knew where this was headed, I still love it. I can't wait for part 3.

Chaotic romp

Clearly, Maberry has done a lot of research, which is interesting but about the only depth here. The bad guys are two-dimensional and the good guys have some character development but still feel like any other disaster story: insecure young scientist and macho ex-military boyfriend. Every scene is a different chapter, and switches to a different point of view. The action itself doesn't make a lot of sense given all the scientific setup. I find myself laughing at the monsters and gore.

But maybe that's the point, after all. In the midst of all the truly awful chaos in the world, why not listen to a story about an underdog hacking monsters apart? It may be therapeutic.

The narrator's voice and cadence sound more sultry than crisp, and may not be optimal for sci-fi, but she does a good job.

This series was such a fun read! I can't wait to hear what happens next! definitely recommend this book and this series! You won't be able to put it down!

Scary but gripping part 2

I might have nightmares tonight. This author is a master of horror.

Looking forward to book three. Well, and kind of dreading it, but that's partly the point of action/sci-fi/horror, so that's good, I guess.

I've never liked horror, but it does make you think about what kind of person you would be in different circumstances. How you would control your responses when the environment seems so out of control. This book makes me finally get the appeal of the horror genre.

The breathy occasional porn-voice narrator is still throwing me off, but she's usually pretty good except the weird villainess voice, I was less distracted by her voice this time.

One complaint: Guzman is pronounced Goozemahn. Not Guhz-man. Not like Guzzle. More like Goo. It's Spanish. I know literally 3 unrelated people with that last name. It's very common.

Ehhhh

I have not finished it, but I am struggling to find a reason to care. The soothing voice trying to deliver a dangerous set of events is just awkward. The back and forth jumping to people who sit and think about things for a decade. I mean it is a cool idea, but it's missing a lot so far. They open a crazy sci-fi technology and the operation sent everyone home and didn't have anyone near the power source to shut it down!
An ex spec ops / social influencer who's frozen by thought while hanging for what seems to be days.
The human predator thing thinks about hunting without actually hunting. Everyone everywhere Abby this Abby that while sitting there.
Again I have not got far, but it's more like watching Amish Mafia the first few episodes than being hooked so far.
If it doesn't get better I may have to jump through a portal to end Abby myself considering the huntress is still in thought trying to remember if she turned the fire pit off.

Solid Sci-Fi Fantasy Listen

Of course they now set me up to wait for part 3, but that is how it works! Some solid plot and character development and a great ending.

Narration could be better

There was little to no nuance between the "high tension" moments and the internal musings of the characters.

The second installment of an amazing trilogy.

First off, english is not my main language. And even though, I don't think there was a single time I stopped this series to search for a word. It's context said a lot and I could easily just chill and listen. That being said, please forgive any misspelling on this review.

You do need to listen to the first book before starting this one, the story is continuous and doesn't re-introduce characters or the world. It assumes you know what's happening, that being said I highly recomend this book if you have listened to the first one.

Same as the first, the chapters are short so it's easy to have a quick listen. Every chapter starts with a subtle "where" and "who" is there. So you don't really have to remember where on a 58 floor building each character is.

By itself the book is great, but I'll repeat myself you need the entire trilogy to get from the begining to the end of the story, they're not separate, but they're definitely worth listening.

It easily became one of my life time favorite books and the sequel to the book that made me fall in love with audiobooks as a whole.

Has potential

This story line has been done before. In this one it's a bit drawn out.
