Intriguing read into a world of fantasy and desire

I absolutely adored volume 5 of Best Women's Erotica of the Year. Having read past volumes, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this one took things a bit further and plunged us deep into a world of fantasy and desire. It was difficult not to be turned on and want to pounce on my partner after each read (and, ahem, I may have done that more than once...). The stories had a lot of variety, which as a bisexual Latinx woman, I definitely appreciated. Unsurprisingly, my favorite was "At the Pleasure of the President" by Sabrina Sol. I was also really intrigued by the world in Angel Leigh McCoy's "Outlaws" and sincerely hope she makes it into a full-fledged novel. "The Summer of 1669" was a thrilling historical read. Honestly, historical erotica is not usually for me but I appreciated this one a LOT more than I usually would. "Broken Thing Fixed" was sweet and inspiring and heartfelt. "Peripheral Voyeurism" possibly got me more hot and bothered than any of the other stories, and that's saying a LOT since they each added a little something to my imagination. "Vintage Treasures" was honestly kind of funny and surprising, which I can always appreciate since sex shouldn't be 100% serious all the time. And last but definitely NOT least, "One Last Gang Bang" was... just hot. Super, super hot. But what I truly loved about each of these stories is that, even when I couldn't picture myself doing something like that, the stories felt authentically sexy, inspiring, and just overall real. They showed not only fantasy and desire but women's innermost thoughts (flaws and all!) in a way that was thrilling to read. I found myself picturing beig in the shoes of any of the women in these stories, and it was... very alluring. I highly recommend this book but especially to those who have an overactive imagination or visual dreams, haha. Most of all, though, this volume is perfect or those who have daring thoughts but aren't sure they'd ever execute on them. This volume made me want to... well, at least spend a bit more time in fantasy land.
