Cute short story

Sometimes short stories are totally complete in and of themselves and sometimes there are points in the story where you would like to have more and you’d like the author to consider expanding it into a novella or a full novel length at some point. This story was the latter type for me which you can take as a compliment or a criticism depending on what you are hoping to get. I liked the characters, the premise, narration, and the story itself. So if you want to come away with fully encapsulated story where you feel like nothing is left out this may not be the one for you but if you like a short story where you can let your own imagination expand on what the author gives you and/or you don’t mind places where because of the length the plot could be expanded to give you a more rounded story then this is a good choice and a fun short listen.

enjoyable short story

Bent Corners is a short sweet story about how Evan and Riley met. Though it's family drama that ultimately brought Evan and Riley together; Riley looking after his uncle's bookstore and Evan looking after his yaya while his parents are away. Evan and Riley are really sweet together and good for each other. This is an enjoyable story and I'd love more from this world. Cousin Joey needs a story.
Narrator Denver Stevens does a marvelous job.

Good sex and unnecessary drama

As short as this is I found myself zombie reading parts of it, the heat was good but there were many attempts to drum up unnecessary drama and sometimes it felt way too forced. It's my first Kris Jacen read and I hope the future books will be more engaging.

Enjoyable short story

Bent Corners is a short sweet story about how Evan and Riley met.
This is a cute short story about two men who meet by chance and find an instant connection.
I loved the that most of the story takes place in a bookstore!
This is a cute, fun story and a quick listen.
Denver Stevens does a wonderful job of giving voice to the characters.

Cute short story.

This is a cute short story about two men who meet by chance and find an instant connection. It mostly takes place in Riley’s uncle bookshop, which, to me, is as romantic as it can get.
The book is short, low-angst and enjoyable, but it maybe lacks a bit of depth on certain themes.

Riley and Evan

Riley is helping run his uncle’s bookstore while he recuperates in the hospital, while running his tattoo shop too. Evan comes into the bookstore to buy a book for his grandma and from the first glances both feel an attraction. This story is practically insta love. I enjoyed the narrator, the music between chapters is nice too. Overall I did enjoy this quick listen. I’ve enjoyed other books from Kris Jensen in the past. I received an arc of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved this book. Denver Stevens has a amazing voice that brings the story to life and makes you love the characters even more. Riley’s world is turned upside down when he gets a call that his Uncle is in the hospital. Leaving him to care for not only his Tattoo shop but his Uncle's bookstore. Evan’s schedule is packed after his parents take a vacation and he's in charge of his yaya's care. When Evan visits the bookstore to buy his yaya a gift he meets Riley. Both have a full plate but can they make it work and find love?

This audio-book was alright. I did not love it, but it was okay for a quick story. The two main characters of this book, Evan and Riley, didn’t feel realistic to me. When they meet, there is attraction, but it feels like they both moved so fast in terms of their relationship. One moment they meet in a hospital, then they meet multiple times in a bookshop. Before the audience knows it, they have their first physical intimate moment in Evan’s grandfather’s book shop. Later, the audience is told they go on a few dates, meet significant people in each other’s lives, then; Riley is calling Evan his forever. I realize this book is a brief story, but it felt too rushed. Since the book felt so rushed, I didn’t feel Riley and Evan’s connection in the way that I should have because there was not enough character development. All in all, this audio-book wasn’t a bad listen, but I’ve heard better narrators.

Sweet story

A very sweet story of a chance encounter. Two men meet twice by chance and a sweet relationship develops. They were very cute and I enjoyed getting both Evan and Riley’s PoV. Riley has been looking after his uncle’s bookshop after the man ends up in the hospital. And Evan is trying to find a book for his Yaya. I enjoyed getting to know the side characters too. The narrator did a very good job with the characters and voices.
