Publisher's Summary

An ideal starting point for those interested in Buddhism, Being Peace contains Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings on peace and meditation.

Using real examples from his own life as well as poems and fables, Nhat Hanh explains his key practices for living "right in the moment we are alive". These lessons are taught with fine writing and sparkling phrases that draw the listener in and make Being Peace an audiobook that encourages multiple listenings.

Still as timely as when it was first published over 25 years ago, Being Peace is a revelation for anyone concerned with the state of the world and the quality of life.

A practical guide to skillful, conscious living

Be aware that the essays in BP are not fluffy or feel-good. In fact, the need for activism and "engaged buddhism" are key themes, and the reader is challenged both to be peace and to do good in the world. In particular, this book is a must-read for parents and parents-to-be.

The first half was very good.

I am normally a fan of Thay and his writings, having read many of his works. Unfortunately this one took a turn about halfway in and instead on concentrating on Buddhist teachings, veered towards climate change and what we "should" be doing.
I suppose the premise is that Buddhist teachings can be used to help address climate change. However I was disappointed at the departure from teachings on how to be "at peace" in the world such that it is to telling the reader, "if we could only eat less meat", and "drink less alcohol" the world would supposedly be better due to the water savings had. Felt "soapbox-ish"

Even Better Than I had Hoped

What did you love best about Being Peace?

Fantastic, so much information on so many relevant topics. I have read several books by Thich Nhat Hanh but this one is my favorite.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Being Peace?

Thich Nhat Hanh has such a simple way to explain things. Pointing out many things that are so obvious but I have never noticed before.

What does Edoardo Ballerini bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Edoardo Ballerini narrates this book in a warm friendly tone, very easy to listen to for long periods of time.

Any additional comments?

This book is exactly what I needed, it showed me how far I have come and that I still have a long way to go :-)

Wonderfully simple and practical

I highly recommend this audio book. Evidently there is a 20 word minimum on review text. Good thing this book teaches about living judgement free or I'd call that a stupid, arbitrary rule. Peace.
