Inspirational book about family and faith

I enjoyed every word of this book. Helen Small one shares her story in an engaging way. They had joys and sorrows, successes and failures - but handled them through faith in God and al! working together. They also had community that served as a strength for them. We all need the give and take of community as well as family.

The Good Lord has blessed and truly worked and continues to work through this family… Thank you for giving of yourselves to His Glory and giving us all hope… I’ve passed this book on to my sister who made me a proud Aunt to her 7 children. Her honesty and vulnerability.

I love her honesty and vulnerability, and I have loved watching this family’s, faith being strengthened, time and time again by walking through challenges. Their honesty has helped me feel less alone during my dark times,and I’m so grateful for the journey/testimony they have shared with all of us‼️

What a wonderful story

I felt like I was listening to my own life story. I cried like I haven't done since the passing of my baby brother 11 years ago because I was so touched by this story. I definitely recommend this to anyone.

If you’re a mom, you will benefit from reading this!

INo matter what stage you are in, if you are a mom, you need to read (or better yet, listen to) this book. All of us moms have had successes and failures as we journey through raising our children. Helen honestly and humbly shares her stories of BOTH with us. It is a tremendous encouragement that in all of it, God is with us, paving the path for our children. Her wisdom’s in areas of work ethic, schooling, and sibling rivalry is invaluable.
I can honestly say, as a mentor in the ministry Helen co-founded, that she is the REAL DEAL. She truly loves and serves moms, and she is excellent proof that you never really stop being a mom, even when your kids are grown.

A Story of Triumph against all odds...

I loved that the story was narrated by the author. I found the Smallbone story so relatable. My husband has worn a lot of hats throughout our 27 years of marriage. We've been blessed with 8 children, and I like to joke that I had a child with each of his careers; UPS man, Schwans man, Pastor, Police Officer, Substitute Teacher, Hospital Chaplain, Security Guard, and Factory worker (not necessarily in that order). What an encouraging story of provision and faithfulness. my 48th birthday is in a couple days, and I'm taking my family to see Unsung Hero, which will be the on screen perspective of this story...I can hardly wait... and I'll be sure to bring an entire box of Kleenex!
