Fun to spend a few hours with Sherlock again

The story and narration were excellent. It's as though Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman did another standalone Sherlock film, except it was audio. The narrator even makes his Sherlock character sound like Cumberbatch. I wasn't expecting a dystopian story, which is a genre I usually avoid (it's too close to home), but it was an interesting and fresh way to reintroduce well known characters. Horowitz is a masterful storyteller, so it's no surprise that this was such a compelling story. I'll be using my next 3 credits on the sequels.

clever, well-paced twist on the Holmes story

I’m a big fan of Horowitz but was unfamiliar with Naughton. She did a cracking good job with the story; the writing is excellent and the performance was great. Will be downloading the second part as soon as I click submit on this review!

A new origin story that works quite well by the end.

Familiar characters and beloved personalities, and London ! But with an entirely new origin story that's a bit jarring at brief times. But go with the story, it gets sorted very well.
We are looking forward to the next installment with great anticipation !

An AMAZING prequel of sorts to the life at 221 B Baker Street.

I could not stop listening. Many tie ins and “Easter Eggs” that ties it in to the regular Sherlock Holmes series. Great narration and not overly so. I listen to lots of podcasts and I love Sherlock Holmes and I seriously and highly recommend!!!

Promising story, but…

I was entranced; wonderful narrator, fab story. Then the offensive graphic details of the Bohemia club and I couldn’t go on. I don’t know why that had to go in there. Realism is ok to a point, but taking it to the point of pornographic references/descriptions and I no longer trust the author that worse imagery isn’t coming. That’s not something that improves a story for me. I wish audible would warn readers because we don’t all think that’s ok and my money was wasted.

Sherlock today!?

A story that only Anthony Horowitz could have pulled off, being Sherlock Holmes into the 21st century. Worth your reading.

Clever and Compelling

Loved the futuristic setting, as bleak as it was, and the inventive new “origin” stories of familiar characters.

The narrators voice is fantastic

The story is exceptional, engaging delivery by Enoch. Anxiously awaiting more in this series. The futuristic Holmes is an unexpected twist on one of my favorite characters.

Against the odds, a brilliant reboot

Didn’t know what to expect when the premise of the book unfolded. But as a Horowitz fans, I kept faith. Turns out to be a wonderful reimagining of the Holmes story, told in a way only the best minds could. Definitely worth the listen.
