Perfect

It was my dream mafia romance. Plus it was an amazing plot and extremely entertaining.

Almost as good as the 1st book

If you read book 1 and thought it was too dark, you should be happy with the ending of this book. FMC got some back bone! She isnt a badass but she raises hell in her own way. The ending was disappointing to me, too many long, sappy monologues and too much personality shift in MMC. I'm glad he was nicer, but he seemed like a completely different person. It just took a very "disney perfect" HEA direction that clashed with the vibes of book 1 and the first half of book 2.

The narration also got annoying and I dont know what happened after book 1. The male narator doing a femal voice got comical in this book.

If you like descriptive sex scenes it’s for you 😳

Overall I like the premise of the story but I had to fast forward through the sex scenes. Trigger warning, there is forced sex scenes.

This book was very Mid.
If you’re offended by rape, imprisonment, Stockholm syndrome.
This isn’t the book for you.
Also the ending was a let down.

If you don’t mine anything above you’ll enjoy it, if you enjoy happy endings.

Very Captivating

This was a great duet. Very well written and extremely captivating! I listened to both books in less then a day because either just couldn't stop. The only dislike I had was that the MFC was a little whiney, weak, and naive.

I got through it.

I listened to this duet with my Audible sub and the narrators made it hard to get through. They sounded like Darkwing Duck and Rosario Dawson, which wouldn't have been bad if she fit the character description, it was weird at best and distracting at worst. I personally don't take well to audiobooks but it's the only way I get pages in with my job now so don't take my word for it.

As far as the story itself...I tried. I was introduced to this author with the Blackthorn Elite series and while it's one of my favorites, I've had trouble with everthing that has followed. 'Little Mouse' bothered the spit out of me for one, I think we all know why. Christian and Sian were both trash. Christian for obvious reasons, like how did Sian miss ALL of the signs? Which leads to Sian who had koala smooth brain at all times. The senselessness of EVERYTHING was intolerable.

It wasn't just angsty emotional drama either, it was plot rush and poor character depth and 'shocking' revelations that fell flat. It's starting to look like one shouldn't push out so many books in such a short time. I'm starting to lose hope.

How to belittle women

I don’t mind stories about alpha males. But in this one girl had a role of a dumb one with no brain. And the narrator was just as bad. Seriously no woman is THIS dumb!!

What can I say - it’s a book

I love that this book is in the plus catalogue on audible so I can listen to the series. Not my favorite, not the worst. The voice actors are ok. The female lead makes the dude sound like he’s always trying to be sexy. It’s annoying but you get used to it. I did. like the twist at the end. It’s not very often I don’t see it coming.

This duet totally sucked me in from start to finish. I loved how it all played out and look forward to more from this author
