Publisher's Summary

If you think having one dragon around messes up your life, imagine what it’s like when a second one shows up.

I’m Val Thorvald, assassin of magical bad guys and tenuous ally to the dragon lord Zav.

He still calls me a mongrel and thinks I’m a criminal, but he healed my wounds after we fought those dark elves together. That’s progress, right? Maybe one day, he’ll deign to use my name.

Not that this is my primary concern. I’m busy with a new assignment. Nin, the awesome lady who makes my magical weapons, has a werewolf problem. Specifically, sleazy loser werewolf competitors who want to drive her out of business. Or worse.

Normally, a couple of werewolves wouldn’t be a big deal, but these ones have powerful allies. And then there’s that new dragon.

It turns out he’s one of Zav’s enemies, and he wants to use me against him.

I don’t know why he’s picking on me — it’s not like I mean something to Zav — but somehow I’ve gotten stuck in the middle of dragon politics. If you think that sounds like a nightmare, you’re right.

If I can’t figure out a way to help my friend with the werewolves while keeping these dragons from tearing me apart, we’re both going to end up flatter than the deck chairs when Zav lands on the roof of my apartment building.

Pick up Battle Bond, and continue the adventure today!

My opinion...bummer!

I enjoyed the first book, but this one was weak! The main character was constantly unable to take out the bad guys, and then the author turned the book into a romance novel! Not what I was expecting, nor wanted. I like stories with kick-ass young women who do good and win the day and never lose the battle. Sadly, this book was not to my liking, and I will no longer buy books from this series.

I love Lyndsay and all of her work(s)

I laughed at Val so many times and got mad at the pompous black dragon . As with all of Lynsey”s books : the story lines are fantastic. The characters are lovable , feared . I am downloading book 3 now.
Pls forgive my broken grammar. I am partially blind
I can still listen through Audible

Yup. Good stuff.

I think I just like Lindsey Buroker's work. She makes characters that aren't just believable, they're plausible. They make mistakes, they have flaws, and they have idiosyncrasies that aren't just quirky-manic-pixie or tough-buff-bro. And if you like your romances slow burn, prepare your embers to smolder. This high-grade pining isn't just from the PNW scenery (eh? eh? c'mon).

If you like your protags scruffy but well-intentioned, you'll like this author. Same goes if you like your heroes unassuming but accidentally-world-saving. This series is "modern urban fantasy," but if you lean more towards space opera, give the Fallen Empire series a go. I'm sure I'll work my way through the rest of her work; so far, it's the best of fun tropes without all the cringe.

Great book

A good addition to the series. Similar feel and narration to the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. Looking forward to the next one.

Battling Dragons

Our main heroine just can't catch a break. The plots continue to nicely intertwine and where the ongoing story for this series goes is still to be revealed. All up good entertainment.

"Fast Fiction"

I like what the author has done with modern urban fantasy. Narrator was excellent. Good world building but, most of the characters are a little too unbelievable in their cliche bad guy/tough guy personas including main characters. I would call it easily consumable "fast fiction". Not saying it's bad, I listened to 2 more, but eventually I will need to enjoy a story with more substance.
