Different

I have always loved LB series; however, this was my least favorite. The sex was more than any of her other books combined. From the beginning it didn’t read like her past writing. I did listen to the whole book but will not finish the series when it is released due to the explicit sexual content.

Original characters

I really enjoyed the storyline and distinct personalities of the characters, especially the dragons. I wasn't sure about the narration but came to really like her portrayals.

Incredible epic story & narrative

Princess Syla is a healer and the youngest child of the Queen & deceased King. She’s almost on her way to a family dinner when the “sky-shield” drops and dragons with riders attack Castle Island. She’s the only survivor of the family. Captain Vanic is the brother of the General who commands the dragon riders. He and Syla lock eyes with each other and their lives become somewhat linked. The book follows the struggles of the two “enemies”, the dragons, both of their peoples and the entire kingdom/world.

It was quite a quick moving enjoyable adventure.

This new series is certainly a page turner! The building of the new world was fun to see unfold. The characters and their developing relationships are mesmerizing! I can hardly wait to listen to book two. Vivian’s performance was once again stellar!

It was okay

I have read all LB’s books and have re-read many of them. They have brought me much joy. This one I struggled to finish. **Spoiler** The MC loses everything -her family is killed,her home and city are destroyed, her healing hall and many fellow healers are gone, all due to the dragon rider attack. However, she never grieves and even worse she is so attracted to one of the riders that she is snuggling with him and letting him kiss her neck just a few hours after her loss. Also the flow of the story kept getting interrupted by the characters sexual thoughts which was annoying mor than scintillating. All in all, I didn’t think it was her best.
