Awesome

The narrator was very good although he did not try to do a woman's voice and there were times when I had to wonder who was talking. The story was very good and I am glad that Jessie was able to get her happily ever after. I thought at first that it was not going to happen and that he was just using her in order to get away from the hospital and prison. But his desire for her was true. This book was given in exchange for an unbiased review via audiobook boom. I would listen to more books by this author especially if they keep the same narrator.

A Short Bad Boy Romance

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator or producer for an unbiased review by Audioboom.
This was a quick listen that moved quickly and no time is there a time to be bored or wish to skip.
Brody is shot in the stomach, taken to a hospital where Jess is a nurse who suffered the death of her husband, and she lands up taking care and falling for Brody. Brody's identity and whether he is dangerous is a question. There is dual point of view, which I always prefer.
There are a lot of questions about exactly who he is and there is a fast moving love story. It was enjoyable to have a love story that wasn't all sex and also had some humor in it. When Jess gives Brody a sponge bath, there is a bit of humor and also dialogue at the end of the book.
I enjoyed the narrator, he had a very deep voice and didn't try to lower his voice to sound to try to sound like a woman...it never works anyway. Very pleased with job he did.
Recommended listen!

Bad Patient

Fortunately, this was a quick listen because I could not get into this book. I think Logan McAllister is a really good narrator but didn’t feel he was as good narrating this book. I could not always tell when a female was speaking. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Good Story

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narration lacked emotion. Sometimes I would get confused on which character he was reading at the moment or what was happening in the book at the moment.

Any additional comments?

Bad Patient was a mobster story. I was hooked on the story waiting to see how it could possibly work out. I liked how the story built even though most of it was in the hospital but it had my intrigued.

Jess and Brody were two unlikely people to be together. Jess had a stable job as a nurse in the ICU and Brody was the mysterious patient brought in with gun shot wounds and handcuffed to the hospital bed. While it can be slightly unbelievable that is the joy of books,it doesn't need to be completely realistic all the time.

This just didn't work for me.

What disappointed you about Bad Patient?

I thought I needed to break away from the Science Fiction, Post Apocalyptic, Adventure, and True Crime formats, and give something else on Audible a try. When the offer of a free copy in exchange for an honest review came up for this book I thought "yeah... I'll give it a listen." But I really didn't enjoy it at all. I had to stop long before the end of the book. I feel bad about that, but honestly... there was just too much about it that I didn't enjoy. I think the fact that the story is a first person narrative.... and some guy is narrating was the first thing that struck the wrong chord with me. It took me a while to figure out that the character speaking was a woman, and not some gay guy. It was really disconcerting. I thought "WTF? I'm listening to a gay romance novel? That's not what I'm looking for in a million years"When I finally understood that a male narrator was reading a woman's story, from that woman's perspective, I was able to listen for a while longer. But the writing was getting in the way. I was listening to dialogue while my mind was screaming "Real people don't talk this way" Couple that with narration that sounded like some guy reading words off of a page, rather than telling me a story, and I quickly lost any interest.

What didn’t you like about Logan McAllister’s performance?

He wasn't telling me a story... he was reading words.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

Any additional comments?

I really don't enjoy having to write a review for a book I didn't enjoy. I try very carefully to only accept books I honestly believe I will enjoy. I gave this one a shot, to try and branch out into a different genre. Unfortunately I pulled the wrong work off the digital shelf.

A Little Suspense, Action and Romance..

Any additional comments?

Jess, the female lead, is a nurse and her new patient is Brody.

She is a little unsure of how to act around him since he was handcuffed to the bed by the police.

Brody gets the crazy idea in his head of getting his nurse to help him escape.

Most of the book takes place in the hospital.

I liked the dual points of view and the suspense throughout the book.

I feel as though the story got off to slow start and there was not enough connection between Brody and Jess.

Will Jess help Brody escape?

Is Brody really a bad guy? Read the book if you are curious..

Overall, the story line was.. ok, I would have liked the story to be a little longer.

Logan McAllister did really well with the narration, he had a clear crisp reading voice.

Bad Patient

Any additional comments?

Entertaining and enjoyable short romantic suspense story with a HEA. Just what the title says A Bad Boy romance. Brody has been brought into the hospital with a gunshot wound. From the moment Jess sees Brody she is drawn to him. Brody a Mafia cleaner, who convinces good girl Jess that he didn't do what he was accused of and convinces her to help him escape from the hospital and police. Is he guilty? Or is he telling the truth? Can a Bad Boy really change his ways?

Logan McAllister does a good job with the narration. This is the first time I have listened to him narrate a book. Pleasant voice. Easy on the ears. He needs to slow down a bit. He's speaking so fast at times the sentences run together. There is not much difference between his male and female voices, which is very confusing at times.

Not for Me

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

My mother always says if you can't say anything nice, then don't say nothing at all. Since I was asked to leave an honest review in exchange for a copy of this book I will do that but try not to be mean.I think that the person who would like this would have to really be good at suspending belief in order to believe the story or like the characters

What was most disappointing about Natasha Tanner and JB Duvane ’s story?

I am expected to believe that a woman, who I have to assume is smart since she is a nurse, falls in love with a suspicious guy (he is being guarded by police for a reason) and is willing to throw her entire life away after only a few days. I have no problem with insta love, but this particular story made the heroine seem to stupid for my taste and I couldn't find a thing to like about either character. I found myself rolling my eyes through most of the story.

What didn’t you like about Logan McAllister’s performance?

I thought Logan McAllister did an okay job while reading for Brody, but it seemed like he didn't even try while reading for Jess. It kept me confused when he would go between characters because the voice was the same for both when reading inner dialogue. I will say that once he was reading the parts that she was speaking I could tell the difference. Still after listening to someone like my Phil Gigante read, I know that he could have done a lot better. It is possible for a narrator to read for both genders and do an amazing job at it.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Sorry, but not for me. Maybe if the story had been more fleshed out and I had connected with the characters, but other than that it would still remain a no.
