Echo thought he'd been handed a perfect second life—reincarnated into a world of swords, magic, and endless growth just like in the fantasy stories he lost himself in to escape the hunger of hovering on the edge of poverty.

Then the quest went wrong.

Betrayed and left to die, he falls into the hands of a mad mage and is remade by a forbidden artifact—reborn as something wearing human skin, but no longer human.

A hunger given form.

To survive, he must hunt. Monsters. Twisted things that were once people. Their hearts are power—and he has no choice but to tear them out and devour them.

Each kill makes him stronger. Each evolution takes something from him in return.

Kill. Consume. Evolve.

Humanity is a weakness he can't afford. Mercy is a luxury that will get him killed. And the deeper he descends, the more he begins to wonder if there's anything left of the man he used to be.

But hunger doesn't stop. Not at monsters. Not at angels. Not even at gods.

The story is pretty complete on its own which is nice but story progression was pretty bad. The MC would get from point A to B like its a to do list.. also the way they “had to breed” was written poorly. Overall, I didnt enjoy it much. Narrator did a good job but the story progression was very lacking and MC is wayyy too OP

Overall, I would say its a good book with great narration, but there are enough flaws that it should be mentioned before giving a recommendation. In the beginning, the mc dies and wins the cosmic lottery by getting personally reincarnated by the god of death. There's a big missed opportunity here as the details of him picking his "character" kinda get skipped over. In a pretty short amount of time hes walking around the new world like a god amongst men with some of the best gear/stats in the world. It seemed a bit fast, and the power scaling went crazy after that. The MC becomes a human shaped monster that continues to scale infinitely. During all this, there are 2 very odd scenes (back to back) when outside of the flow of the story a random side character will feel the need to talk about being in a gay relationship, the mc replies with "good for you", then this information is never used or mentioned again. It felt like the author was checking off some list? Moving on, the romance seemed fast with the fmc already holding romantic aspirations as soon as she learns he doesnt age (just like her), but it was at least believable, if forced. It was a decent enough story with room for improvement, and I will say the ending was quite good.

Poor beginning that improves over time
