Disappointing, basically an overly inflated prologue

I want to like this so much, the premise and setup have a ton of potential and I love the dual path progression. I went in to this looking forward to an academy arc and assumed that would take a book or 2 before moving on. Unfortunately this book is a huge let down. IMO there are two main things holding this back.

The first - the majority of book 2 basically covers one day. Yes, ONE DAY. Then there's a quick time jump in the last hour to bring the total time to technically covering his first 2 weeks. There was a good amount of worldbuilding and info dumping, but that just made the book feel like an inflated prologue. Very little actually happens beside the introduction of some very one trait characters.

The second issue is the MC's personality.
Coming in blind it would seem like the character is a very mature 11 year old. However, in the context of the story, he's actually a wild emotionally stunted 41 year old... The author frequently writes the MC as shy, timid, afraid of crowds, weak willed and desperate for affection. All traits that would make sense for a young boy, but seem stupid for a 40 year old man trained brutally as a warrior for the most of the past decade. He came off much more competent in book 1 alone in the forest, then regressed here. Kinda get the feeling that the author regrets making this an isekai.

I will probably get the next one and just hope for the best. But if you're anything like me then I'd recommend holding off till book 3. If the reviews are good for the next, buy both at once.

Nothing burger

I’m pretty sure about 90 percent of this book is dialogue, and none of it was all that interesting. The only fight was just the free for all fight towards the beginning and it was pretty bland. Tbh i don’t even remember the exact purpose for the fight other than they were supposed to collect badges from other students for some reason.

Kind of a dud book if you ask me.

ive been catfished

first off, the main character in this story is a 40 year old man in an 11 year old body. so the timid shy poor pity me act is old af. we spent the first book seeing him endure a decade of harsh training and survival lessons in the wilderness. we also seen him learn to blacksmith. mind you everything he learned was taught by "celestials" so basically the most bad a** people around except for a paragon but the are ultra rare apparently. I was expecting this book to be an academy arc where the mc dominates everyone because of all the training. instead he is a big wus that whines about EVERYTHING. the book covers 2 weeks in the story and literally nothing happens except for him meeting his new teacher 1 time and 2 new characters get introduced. he acts like a scared rabbit the whole time. ive never seen a sequel to a book back track this much. I loved the first book and I absolutely hated this one so much that ill never listen to anything else this author puts out on principle.
