Pure action movie for your ears

If you want to hear a corrupt high-society empire get burned to the ground by an ex-Delta operator, this is your jam. The swamp tracking scenes had my heart hammering in my chest. Blaze is a total machine but still has a ton of heart. James Sasser’s deep, powerful voice is the perfect match for Runner’s writing style. Total banger.

Edge of your seat ride

I am officially addicted to the Axel Blaze series. Devil's Hour takes the character to some really dark places, and the payoff is huge. James Sasser’s narration is incredibly intense, really capturing that quiet, lethal operator vibe. Seeing Blaze navigate the high-society corruption in Savannah before tearing up the swamps was pure gold. Do yourself a favor and listen to this.

Best audio book in ages

Man, talk about a punch to the gut. The story hooks you from the opening minutes and doesn't let up until the final explosion. The Georgia marshland setting is super creepy and adds a ton of tension to the hunt. Blaze is an absolute force of nature when he's protecting the innocent. Runner completely crushed this one. Five stars all day.

Atmospheric, brutal, and brilliant

Devil’s Hour is a relentless exercise in tension. Bill Runner expertly utilizes the eerie, isolated geography of the Georgia swamplands to heighten the stakes of Blaze’s mission. The transition from a quiet memorial trip to a brutal crusade against a powerful syndicate feels earned and inevitable. The narrator’s performance is nothing short of magnetic, effectively conveying Blaze’s transition from a grieving son to a systematic instrument of justice. With sharp dialogue, impeccably researched tactical details, and a genuinely menacing set of villains, Runner has delivered his most impactful audiobook yet. It is a must-listen for all thriller enthusiasts.

Savage gritty and totally awesome

This is easily the darkest book in the series, and honestly, it might be the best. The whole concept of a midnight market run by a wealthy dynasty is terrifying, but Blaze is the ultimate equalizer. The combat scenes are crisp, realistic, and completely savage. The narrator absolutely kills it, giving Blaze a voice that commands total respect. Highly recommended.
