POLITE MAKES RIGHT

Violette, the duke's daughter, was imprisoned for an unforgivable crime—but she gains a miraculous second chance when she awakens in her own past, a year before her sentencing! This time, she swears not to make a single misstep: she'll live quietly and unobtrusively so no one gets hurt. Although the restrictive bonds of House Vahan keep Violette tethered, her childhood friend Yulan and her maid Marin are there to support her...as well as an unlikely ally who crosses her path.

from villainess to doormat

The story so far isn't bad. I expect the repetitiveness as something I've come to see is standard with most Lit Novels. Ive seen a few anime and listened to other Lit novel audiobooks especially with the reborn villainess trying to change her future trope. The story has a good premise and i can see it going somewhere. My frustration with this one is that she went from villainess to basically a doormat. I get trying to change and change the future, but we've went from one end of the spectrum to another. i want her to find a middle ground. She doesn't have to be the villainess, but why give up on happiness and let everyone that caused and still causes her pain and problems to continue doing it and without any push back. not even planning how to make her life better. How to become financially independent. how to get her man and have a happy life and gracefully shove it in their faces. letting her sperm donor come into her life and treat her crappy with no consequences, not even telling him he's a hypocrite burns my blood. hopefully she has a character arc of growth and finding a backbone

Can't wait to read the next book

this series sounds like the second chance trope but it's beyond that. a tale of broken people who are just trying to survive in a world of social custom and role assigned by birth. the narrative let's you into the mind of everyone but the antagonists, Violette's father, Stepmother, & half sister.

This book picks up right where the first left off, including the chapter numbers, so when listening to the series each book seems to flow into the next part.

the real question I'm left with is will Violette be free to be her truest self and allowed to love and be loved openly.

Too many boring sub plots.

First off this is WAY too short for the price.
Also, the story barely advances at all from book 1.
I thought Violette might start to grow a little bit of a spine but she is still fine to act as her father's punching bag.
Won't try book 3 unless it goes on sale.
