THE STORY

He views them as no more than mongrels, their worthless lives only attaining value when being spent in the Emperor's wars.

Hasp is ordered to lead a kill team of these imperfect tools through enemy-infested territory to secure vital intelligence. The catch? It lies within a former Imperial bastion now fortified by the ork Waaagh! that sacked it. All the commissar and his Chem-Dogs have to do is survive the doomed counter-offensive… that is, if they don't kill each other first.

Not what I was hoping for but still good

I was hoping it was going to have a little bit more savlar flavor to it?? It’s still has plenty but just it’s missing a few things though I feel like. Besides that though it’s a genuinely very enjoyable story, I liked it quite a bit, would definitely recommend.

way better than expected

this book delivers. the pacing is good. the action is easy to follow and enticing. the characters are interesting and have good motivations. a return to the guard books I remember reading growing up. the performance definitely enhanced the experience.

Another great guard book

Loved the story and growth of the characters even the Commissar had growth. The story moved at a good pace and had just a little intrigue as well.

Good story and performance. Kept my interest throughout, solid character development and so on. Would recommend!

I did enjoy it

but I would have thought this would focus more on the role of the Chem Dogs and maybe more into their war gear.
